  1. I can't work out if these are worse than inattentive driving or not. I mean, it's deliberately aggressive, but (you hope) they aren't actually trying to hit you, just give you a scare. I think an inattentive driver is probably more likely to hit you.

Doesn't happen often, but had a couple recently, one just now coming back from the protest. Riding up the Bridges in the bus lane, I was going to turn right up the Royal Mile, so keeping an eye on the traffic. Big gap coming up, so around 30-40 yards from the crossroads I move into the right lane just as the gap appears. That lane at the crossroads is right turn only. Peugeot Coupe is going straight on, but has clearly just swerved out from behind me into the left lane and then moves back into the right (turn only) lane to go straight on. Quite clearly making a point. This all within 5-10 yards of the crossroads, by which point the lanes are very clearly defined as straight on and right turn.

Some drivers take murderous offence at cyclists turning right. I don't know what exactly they expect us to do.
I had a similar one in St David's St yesterday where the left lane is left turn only. I move into the right as I am going straight on only for someone previously in the right hand lane to undertake me. Then immediately get stuck behind a bus. Haha!

So stupid though. The road is really wide there, they could easily have overtaken in the normal way.

that's part of my route home, and it is a constant issue. The problem is that there is a green lane on the left but the turn right only markings are on the road only, and most often hidden by stationary traffic after the crossing near Argos. The whole system is a nightmare; if you sit wide right to turn, you are in the path of oncoming traffic, often overtaking buses going past Tron Square. If the Green lane ended at Argos, it would be safer IMHO

I think a bus did this to me this morning: LRT #49, SM57 D(orCP)X, possibly because I was already passing it when it decided it wanted to pull out of the stop on Elm Row, resulting in it passing extremely closely and revvily a bit further up, also closely threatening another cyclist just in front of me. Reported just in case it had its cameras switched on.

Wrong reg number? various websites (including http://www.national.co.uk/) let you type in a reg no and find the type of vehicle (so they can sell you the right tyres etc). This might be useful to help confirm the number:
    SM57CPX - 2007 TOYOTA DIESEL 5 DOOR HATCHBACK (AVENSIS TR D-4D).
SM57DPX- 2007 RENAULT PETROL 5 DOOR HATCHBACK (CLIO DYNAMIQUE TURBO 100).
and not just cars eg SN56AAJ (the first bus reg I could find online) 2006 VOLVO BUS UNKNOWN D/D BUS/COACH (VOLVO B7L
