    34. Listen to Your Bike
"A click or pop or scraping noise doesn't heal itself," says Calvin Jones, director of education at Park Tool. Pay attention to the sounds emanating from your ride and you'll know when it's time for some TLC.

Noise: Intemittent or continual hissing from tyre
    Common Culprit: Puncture
Solution: Remove, repair and replace inner tube. Note: a tyre which appears to be flat only at the bottom may in fact be flat all the way round so do check.

Common Culprits: Slightly maladjusted rim brakes; Wet wheel rims; Brake pads slightly more worn than last time they were used, requiring slightly more pressure to engage; Oil or grease contamination on brake pads.
Solution: Readjust brakes slightly; Clean wheel rims; Lightly sandpaper brake blocks; repeat ad infinitum until brake pads wear out.
