Has there been a massive increase in people cycling the last couple of days?
The Innocent was absolutely hoachin' this morning. There were several "trains" of cyclists making their way up. Never seen so many!
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

On my way in, I was thinking that i'd seen more (occupied) childseats than ever. But I was running a bit early.
Two other upwards and three downwards cyclists around the neath-Crags path this morning, though the extras may have been along to gawp at the bone discovery zone. There are still a few gaps in the racks at work and still a couple of Boardmanses still in the same place they were in last summer.
I haven't loafed around MMW in the evening for a while and was pleased by how many cycles went past, even if I was part of a group blocking their way.
The bike racks were rammed today, I had to share a stand with another bike :(
It has been quite mild lately. Perhaps it's the unusually spring like weather that's bringing the cyclists out?
I chatted to Dave a bit yesterday evening after the photoshoot and as we waited at end of MMW to cross over onto Argyle Place, there was a train of 9 other cyclists (11 including us) just on the flat bit of MMW across Meadows.
"yesterday evening after the photoshoot"
That must have been about 5:45 - so after main 'rush'(?)
Noticed this yesterday at work when it was much busier than it has been for the last few months. I'm guessing the longer days and no crazy winds this week have got the "fair weather cyclist" thinking its time to get back on their bike.
* awaits abuse from all fair weather cyclists *
The office fair weather cyclist is back on his bike and we two have been joined by an occasional third. They're threatening to chase my bike out of its cosy photocopier room to the underpavement cupboards.
"* awaits abuse from all fair weather cyclists *"
Think CCE is (mostly) home of all/extreme weather cyclists.
And "abuse" is against the rules.
CCE wants MORE new/occasional cyclists.
I don't think there are very many fairweather cyclists here Cosmok!
I expect the relatively fairweather has been getting people out but I think that it is even more than this time last year. I hope most of them manage to keep it up!
I think there's only a teensy bit more bikes in the rack than last week, but it's equally probable that I just can't count.
What I have noticed over the last few weeks are the new and/or shiny road bikes coming out after winter.
I just handed in my notice at work and likely have some free time coming up (my employers are the type that like to cut you out as soon as they can - not a bad thing IMO) so I was thinking about spending a couple early mornings doing a cycle survey on MMW and then on a few of the other cyclepaths.
Thing that would be interesting to anyone?
Three of us heading up the hill towards Gilmerton this morning. At 06:00AM that's almost a peloton.
Week before last I counted 12 bikes on the Forth bridge at the same time. Yesterday morning I counted 8. I have noticed lots more cyclists and sopke to another cyclists yesterday morning about how nice it was to see so many on the road. She said Spring has well and truely sprung.
