    "

A report published by the World Health Organisation (WHO) found young Scots had high levels of satisfaction with life, better than many of their counterparts in other countries.

However, there continue to be concerns about the amount of exercise Scottish teenagers are getting and ongoing health inequalities linked to social background.

I was about to comment, based on an eye-opening experience at a water park not so long ago: "Scots children least likely to be able to see their own toes".

They cycle less and they're happier? (ooops).

Even if true, living in less car dominated environments will have positive effects.

The report also mentions that Scots kids are amongst the least healthy. Quiite how happiness and unhealthiness go together, I'm not sure. Oh, it mentions social media and texting friends.

Okay, so Scots kids are on facebook/insert other social network here, texting away from their smartphones/iPads and that makes them "happy". While doing this they're slurping Irn Bru and munching crisps and sweeties. Meanwhile, Danish kids are out on their bikes with friends, feeling less "happy"?

In other news, "Scots kids most susceptible in Europe to being duped by consumer advertising"?

If you read the BBC's spin on it, you'd perhaps agree that (despite lack of activity and generally appalling levels of health) the youth appear to be onto something...

"Scottish 15-year-olds are also more likely to drink alcohol than their European peers, and are more likely to have had sex.

However, the good news is that Scottish school children seem to be happy."

At least they're not drinking so much fizzy pop, if the Beeb are to be believed. Could be worse I suppose. When I was a teenager everybody wanted to smoke cigarettes as well as drink booze and have sex.. The ciggies index presumably has gone down, even if the boozing and shagging ones remain similar.

So drinking alcohol and having more sex makes them happier? Maybe survey is onto something:-P
