I will keep people alert to the ash situation in the north of the city
Expect BBC style blow by blow updates of all particles falling on the patio outside our office by the Water of Leith and eye witness accounts from asthma sufferers collapsing at bus stops.
I will have my cycle mask with filter on (woodbines) for the cycle home and will "tweet" how deep the tyres sink into the vast drifts of Icelandic revenge for crashing their banks... we said "Send Cash..."

In other news, terrorists have started updating their CVs and looking for new careers after being beaten by nature, all aiports in the UK closed was on their "goals" list and since it has already been done they feel like it would kind of be "old hat" repeating the stunt

Is the ash likely to clog up my bike chain? I only cleaned it last week :-(

@SRD - ash in Glasgow? Earthquakes in Haiti and China, Meteors in USA... I think this could be the end of days
@Kim - I liked the picture on the bbc site and this story where the pilot this first happened to says: "It was, yeah, a little bit frightening."
I don't think pilots have any fear...

There is definitely a low yellow-brown hazy band low on the horizon looking north-west. Have seen lots of weather blow in that way, but never a 'smog' band like that. It must be the ash.

It has been my experience that where ever you are in the world there will be a Glaswegian standing by for a TV session. ;)

I let everyone pass me on the way home tonight. Definitely wasn't expecting the challenge. Anyone else see the story about (imported) food shortages? See y'all at the farmer's market tomorrow?

Just heard from my mum that the ash cloud has hit north america and flights being cancelled/delayed out of St. John's - it's expected to go down the atlantic seaboard which should be fun. Map here shows it heading west.
