CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.

Lucky them!
Hope the roads are better than when I went (1986!)
Roads are just as challenging as ever in Iceland, so go carefully! Best of luck!
It should be cheaper to eat though. I remember going to extremes to get calories.
You can buy Tunnocks Caramel Wafers in all the Icelandic supermarkets!
Thanks guys..
Matthew managed to pack up the bike today. Though both wheels had to come off to get it to fit.
Now a bit concerned as to how we'll get it from the airport into Reykjavik, and yes-what food we'll source apart from fish. And such minor concerns as whether our tent pegs will penetrate the volcanic rock.
We're both naively excited. 4 weeks of adventure!!

TUNNOCKS CARAMEL WAFERS!?!?
.........ALL our worries are over.
Welcome ania.
Obviously we will be expecting regular reports...
Remarkably, Iceland has a terrible car culture.
Its not like Scandinavia at all, at all.
Yes... lots of souped up cars I've heard. I've given a tour to someone from Reykjavik though. He sent on the Fjallahjolaklubburinn mag. Some good contacts for all round cycling.

@LaidBack and Ania,
Yes that pic is at one of the 3 river crossings at Thorsmork (Scottish spelling of it!). Campsite, Nature Reserve and huts for hire are there. All good fun, and the river looks low. You should plan to get wet hubs quite often and might have to make sure you dry out bearings and re-oil/grease things. The road surfaces are made from volcanic pulverised lava. There are still not many tarmac roads except near towns. So plenty of punc kit and spare tubes are a must if you are going off the beaten tar!
Good luck with your travels.
The legendary Bill Houston cycled in Iceland on his trusty tourer with just a saddle bag, wooly jumper and rain cape.
