    SAlmon/Cream!

Trews already have grease stains, although I did have a cycle law ankle band on.

My first ever high-five with gembo on the canal this evening (it wasn't all that high, actually, due to it being a narrow bit of towpath).

A distinctly daisydaisy-looking orange helmet at the end of Craighouse Gardens/Balcarres Street turning onto Myreside Road as started the ascent of Craighouse hill.

Gembo was spotted at the Nancy Fraser talk by a student of mine who remembers him from mindfulness class.

The idea of Gembo at mindfulness class boggles the mind...

Was that fimm we passed on Comiston Road this morning? Dressed in black in full mawil mode heading south through the road works at Greenbank Church. I was disguised as the passenger in a car...

@srd I was very mindful at the Nancy Fraser talk. I did not ask the question I wanted to ask which was about imperialism within academia. Being an Edinburgh cognitive scientist in the 1980s and 1990s where Ewen klein's generalised phrase structure grammar was the only credible alternative to Noam Chomsky's theories it always struck me that whilst I admired chomsky's views on the permanent arms economy I felt he somewhat exhibited American imperialism in his own field of linguistics.

However, employing both my mindfulness chops and indeed my higher level skills acquired from my second course compassionate based mindfulness or as I like to think of it (kindfulness) moves I remained silent. Your student was sitting in front of me with two friends. One of whom nodded a lot. More first year politics course than PhD level.

@gembo. What I thought was funny was that when I said 'someone I know wasn't too impressed with the talk', she immediately said that she knew who my friend was. Not sure if that says more about you, or me, but I suspect the latter...

@srd no it shows that your student is very mindful. Very nice wine a French carignan and lovely canapés after the talk. Blue cheese and fig on rye and hummus and radish in little pastry coffins. Edfoc launch this Wednesday, our cinema is invited.

Sounds right - I was pushing the bike up the hill, having decided to see if the road works were still there rather than try some kind of detour. Great advantage of a bike, you can choose to become a pedestrian if that lets you go through a road closed sign!

The (I think) HankChief clan train at the Corstorphine Fair, didn't see the Clan though.

@chdot: was it a family of four (two youngish kids)? I've seen this family a few times around town.

Did I possibly spot fimm Bromptoning west past Fountainbridge about an hour ago? I half-wondered if I had spotted her heading east along NMW earlier in the evening but the latter spot was far more convincing. I was pedestrianing to and from food/cinema.

  20. Hankchief again, just before Gogarburn. I remain in awe of the daily train, despite assertions of growing fitness by doing it from day one.

@jdanielp both spots are possible - I went to the Commie via NMW about 7:15ish and then came back past Fountainbridge (after food in a pub) about, I don't know, 11pm? Pink fleece on the way out, covered by a red jacket on the return.

@wc it was Milo that was famous for carrying a new born calf on his shoulders every day until it was fully grown.

I am intrigued to know how the power required for 12mph on the train compares to 18mph on the fast bike.

@steveo - yep that was the beast.

@fimm 7:15 is exactly when I thought I might have made the first spot, but it was only really the shape of a Brompton that distracted me from looking at something else at that point, hence the lack of confidence. The latter spot was at 10:45 or so. I saw you approaching from a distance, hence the greater confidence, but I wasn't quite sure enough to attempt to greet you...

I thought I spotted Ariadne, very occasionally OTP, about to cross Grange Road this morning. At any rate I was in disguise as a motorbiker.

A rare evening trip along route 9 allowed me to exchange greetings with Kaputnik who unfortunately had just been visited by the fairy.

Certainly nice weather weather for it - hope you got sorted quickly.

Was spotted by Hankchief and the Chieflets on Riversdale Crescent just after a pothole had done for my front tyre. My own fault for following a doddery pensioner driving along at about 3mph too closely so I couldn't see the road far enough ahead to take avoiding action when the pothole appeared from underneath its rear bumper.

Later on, after repairs in the sun, I spotted Dave trailering a lot of boxes along the NEPN.

This morning I spotted DaveC taking avoiding action around a large sign blocking the right turn into north St. Andrew Square.
