Spotted, one of these :
http://bakfiets.nl/nl/modellen/cargobike/lang/
cycling along Princes Street last night past Waverly bridge heading for Waterloo Pl, with a child in the cargo tray (with helmet). Red too, with the Website ligo on the side.
I wonder if its owner is visiting (with bike) or lives here and imported it?

There was one used to park regularly on Melville Street - so might be a local.

Yes I have seen that a few times.

@smudge - ERC chaingang and 10 mile TT tonight. Probably bound for either of those.

@Kaputnik, could well be. He's lucky I had the folder with me or he might not have fitted on the train, four bikes in our carriage on the 0650 (@Polmont) train, and the bike carriage in front had at least two as well! Getting crowded these days :-)

They park at Bicycle Works from time to time.
Had chat with them - of course they prefer higher 'vehicles' to ours but many shared observations.Posted 13 years ago # -

I'm sure ScotRail have spotted this trend and are urgently working to make things better.
Hah hah hah hah hah....

Yes - judging by the Twitter comments on E-G trains being packed with standing passengers (it's the Fest).

Now now, I'm sure they're too busy winterproofing their trains so we don't have the same debacle as last year when the ice and snow predictably comes in a few months... no...?
Mrs S thinks the maxing out of the bike capacity is a summer/warmer weather thing, I'm less sure :-/

They're hoping that increasing fares should discourage too much travel - so yes.
Congestion charging on trains works and has been of great comfort to Arnold Clark amongst others. Much better than putting longer trains on. (I won't mention the regular overcrowding on the Edinburgh - Inverness trains. Tourists just don't understand why a train with three coaches and one half working toilet is considered ok for a three and half hour journey. No wonder the A9 is busy.)
Posted 13 years ago # -
Not to mention the Inverness - Thurso where it is imperative to book bikes in advance as they continually have all the bike space filled (and more)with tourists and end to end peeps.
Easier to turn down business than exploit it though it seems....Posted 13 years ago # -

Indeed they are. In response to demand the shiny new Class 380 trains for the North Berwick line have much reduced cycle provision.

I've been reminded that it's coming up to Franchise time -
"
I think the key is to get the new ScotRail franchise holder to make better provision. As new franchise is due to commence in 2014, and Transport Scotland have previously said to us that they might commence consultation as early as this summer, it's not too early for folk to commence formulating their demands.
"ALSO
"
The other thing is EGIP -- which will necessitate a whole new fleet of (electric) trains. EGIP is being consulted on at the moment -- so ditto."

Passed him on the Meadows yesterday (or was it today?).
A bike with similar fairings is often parked at Tollcross nr the Two Thin Laddies.

Not technically a "spotted" in its truest form, but...
If they were anyone on here, a couple of chaps smiled and nodded at me around Morningside and Colinton around 8am - thank you. You brightened up a 15 mile (mostly uphill) slog this morning.
I can't remember what they were riding or even wearing, but I was on a sandy coloured ladies mountain bike and wearing an ancient red Aberdeen football top (probably with my face the same shade).
I can't quite seem to word this so it doesn't sound like a "missed connections" ad! *sigh*

Photographer (or at very least a person with a expensive lens sitting on their camera) on the Royal Mile this morning taking pics of me as I rode past.
I made a face and stuck my tongue out - I'll be searching on Flickr later.

More of a bike spot this one, there's another Sahara Latte Kaffenback coming into town everyday. Ridden by a red bearded chap.
Has normal drops rather than Anth's Moustachioed affair.

"More of a bike spot this one"
Strangely that's how this thread started out - though with a 'is that a CCE member riding it' intent (that was before http://tinyurl.com/PY-coffee).
Since then of course this has turned into a 'standard' CCE thread with many deviating turns! (and 45 pages!)

Sahara Latte
We've been through this already, and thought we had all agreed it was Kenyan Sunrise and BL Austin Allegro Beige?

Two young chaps on mountain bikes chatting at the lights at Waterloo Place last night about 9.40pm. Helmets, shorts, they carried the air of 'serious' cyclists. I rolled up alongside on the wee Raleigh folder in my work clothes, no helmet, reflective waistcoat, bicycle clips. I know the light sequence very well so I was off like a shot at the change, and the acceleration on the wee wheels is pretty nippy. One of the young men called out "No, no, nooooo!" and frenziedly pedalled as fast as he could to catch up and pass me: clearly being outrun by a middle aged man on such a wimpy bike had offended his pride. His friend caught up a little later, I was spinning out in 'top' gear (the Swift does not live up to its name when cruising). Clearly amused by the whole scenario, the second chap commented "It's always nice to have a race."

Stephdoh at the corner of Westfield Crescent and Stephenson Road. Running late?
Posted 13 years ago # -
I also saw Stepdoh, at Tollcross. I'd left before him, but was chatting to John the Big Issue man after leaving which delayed me enough. It wasn't just that I was slow. Oh no.
Posted 13 years ago # -
How was 'Good news - buy the Big Issue!'?
Did you tell him Chris says hi?Posted 13 years ago # -
He says hello!
He can't half natter though!
Posted 13 years ago # -
No Anth... I'm Very Very Fast, hella squeak in my bottom bracket though, and I was very, very late too steveo. Couldn't resist a final Käffchen.

I'm 99% confident I saw Danny Mackaskill conducting some BMX sorcery on Festival Square last night. Well, he looked like DM. Dressed like DM. Was riding a DM bike. Was defying physics like DM.
If not, he's got a very talented lookalikey.
