Helios with stoker heading up towards Craiglockhart, as I was heading down, having dropped my stoker there for day camp.

Wonder what gears they have. They seemed to be struggling up the hill, whereas we were pleasantly surprised at how easy going it was sans headwind.

Will be fun if we see them at collecting time too.

A woman in waders taking her life in her hands crossing the water of Leith to the wee island in the middle after the Galleries weir... stopped and told her not to cross the wide deep sections near the wall at the bench as it would be deadly, she said she was going back the way she came.
Work next to the river and haven't seen a body float past the window so far...

Guy on a Brompton? stopped on the lights on The Shore turning right onto Bernard St. He took a pic of the car behind who had driven down the One Way. Around 8.15am

Got said devices for a song at The Bike Works, so apologies/thankee if you've already hunted for them, and thankee for the offer either way.

Anth, earlier. Then a bit further on a woman cycling towards me said something and gestured, but I had my mp3 player on and didn't hear what she said. I assumed she said either "there's loads of broken glass further on" or "the yappy dog is back" but neither was true, so I'm none the wiser.

How did he steer without a front wheel or handlebars? More ike a fancy unicycle with gears, a disc brake (levers?) and bottle cage bosses... ;-)

Darkerside and Mrs Darkerside at shop specialising in unpopular bicycles this pm. Apperently his Fuego was hit by a car on another thread (and in reality). I need to look at forum more... glad to report that he was only slightly hurt and on mend.... Will now look for thread.

@chdot, thanks, no feather in my bonnet! It certainly feels autumn-ish, though too warm for autumn/winter clothing imho.

@cb, no problem, I think a trip to halfrauds is in order for me as well with a view to making my fleet 100% Brooks topped :-)

I'm sure Halfords will be very efficient selling their Brooks saddles. Unlike their non response to requests from me to hounour one of their vouchers. They boast of supporting independent retaillers. I'm waiting for their response after several phone calls to their vast telesales department. If they could actually answer emails it would be a help.

Halfrauds make their money selling to people who don't know any better in the main. I wouldn't touch their spare parts without access to a trade card as their mark ups are so extreme.
Sometimes however, they have the right bit at a competitive price, whether your morals will allow you to exploit that is up to the individual, I certainly don't recommend them!

My connection is via a voucher for a potential tandem sale - the type of item they wouldn't normally sell. Turns out though that if they can find one 'favoured' dealer within 1000 miles of their HQ with a Helios in stock then the local dealer is unlikely to get anywhere. That's as opposed to them taking 15% of the voucher's face value should they deign to let you cash it in. Buyer is from a large blue chip company that uses the Halfords BTW scheme. I've used Cyclescheme before and had no problems other than the fact it costs 10%.

Sure it will all work out fine. I just need to make a 100 more phone calls and try to work my way up to someone that will actually do what they claim on their website. My experience isn't unusual apparently...

Couple going over the cobbles of Eglinton Terrace towards St. Mary's NCN1. They had what seemed to be Ikea bags moulded into the shape of panniers to give nae-kidding waterproofing, so I asked as we waited at the lights if they'd come far.

John O'Groats was the answer, in a broad Yorkshire* accent, so I congratulated them and apologised for....well, Edinburgh's cycling provision in general.

Spotted parked at work this morning a very clean Flying Scot, with Shimano Golden Arrow derailleurs. I think the rest is a mix of 600EX drivetrain and Weinmann brakes.

Cyclist pulling trailer with slr camera mounted on a pole, heading into town along Mayfield Road, 8.05am this morning. Anyone know who this might be? I'd be interested to see the photos or video footage.
