IT’S TRUE!

Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.

£18.08 a week on meat is essential minimum spend?
If you re a vegetarian like Robert millar (original) then that would be £18.08 you could spend on veggie cheese?
As opposed to meat cheese?
Makes for interesting thinking. £18400 is £1234 a month, a random google suggests you'd need to find closer to £2k a month for full time childcare...
As opposed to meat cheese?
Some of the most delicious cheeses are meat cheeses (rennet made from boiled-down calves glands, I think)
Parmesan is a bit of problem. Generally I let that one slide unless I think about it too much.
So not owning a car is considered a disadvantage now (according to BBC report on this)?
The last time they did this not owning a car was considered ok. This year they suggest that the 'correct' way to budget is get a small car with a big roof rack. That way you can stock up on the edge of town with cheap food and fuel to get the cheap food and fuel...etc
As car ownership in Edinburgh is low then we must be in a deprived city?
Maybe just a trend thing as I know our daughter thinks we are deprived for at least not owning a car.
Using it isn't so important it seems.
Am aware that if we didn't live in city we might agree though.
Not owning parmesan is definitely deprivation :)
It's a terrible thing living on the ciabatta line.
@cb thanks, that reminds me, I'm almost out of olive oil. Potential kitchen catastrophe avoided.
