    "I love the warmth and soporific feel of the sun on my face through the car window when I'm driving,"

    Well that's nice for her.

    I wonder if the effect is pronounced enough for Sherlock Holmes to be able to detect it?

    The sun is not a great problem this year. After the initial "shock", light rain on the face is quite pleasant in the summer. Well, at least I am getting used to it. Feels like home.

    I assume a cream that offers differential smoothing effect on wrinkles for drivers will be the next big "our scienticians have specially formulated for you" type prodcut.

    Doesn't glass block UV? I seem to remember from high school physics that the UV emitter needed a soda glass window.

    According to the Wikipedia;

    Ordinary window glass passes about 90% of the light above 350 nm, but blocks over 90% of the light below 300 nm

    So it lets some amount of UVA through but blocks nearly all UVB and UVC. It is UVB that penetrates the skin causing tanning response. Apparently it is not know which component of UV radiation is the carcinogen.

    I remember once completing a reasonably long car journey and discovering I had a red and burnt right arm and a peely wally white left arm.
