It's not clear from the article if any tried to get out of the fine by using the 'followed my sat nav' as an excuse; or if that was simply given as a reason for being there, but 'fair cop guv'. Though I do suspect the former.
It's really interesting that people will trust a sat nav implicitly, rather than the evidence of their eyes and the road signs in front of them.

Our satnav is a year old and is already out of date with speed reductions on some roads. If the driver blindly follows the speedlimit on the satnav then I'm sure others will break the speed limits. I'm not defending this at all !!! just trying to highlight how many things in cars can destract the driver from looking properly at the road signs. If the cars ppl drive had a blank dashboard with speedo only then drivers would have nowhere to look other than the road.
