Casual, non-scientific, observation suggests 'a lot' of commuters this morning. Most seem prepared for the weather.
Similar on your 'normal' commute?
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 16years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

Seemed busy although that might have been because I was standing under a bridge watching people go by as my mate fixed his puncture.
"Casual, non-scientific, observation suggests 'a lot' of commuters this morning"
Your comment on them being prepared for the weather suggests they were cyclists.
"Similar on your 'normal' commute?"
Not sure I have a 'normal' commute, but I was driving this morning and the bypass seemed much quieter than usual. More evidence of more people on bikes?
EDIT: It's an English bank holiday mind you...
@instography
I passed you this morning I think as your were snapping graffiti?
I gave a slight nod of the head, passed on a Revolution with a blue gilet
"Your comment on them being prepared for the weather suggests they were cyclists."
Yes, but I'm sure there are/will be plenty of new(ish)-to-cycling people (sold/bought the gear) who might stop/cycle less when it rains/gets colder/shorter days.
I think this Autumn/Winter will be a very interesting guide to how much commute patterns have changed + any 'Olympic Effect'.
Changing room as full as normal today and the roads didn't seem any different in most places. Not particularly heavy rain, though.

Loads of people seem to wear a full cycling anorak whatever the weather, even in the searing heat of the past few weeks which even had the facemasked Marionville Ninja down to a vest top for one day.
Not sure, but I think my point was missed. I was pointing out that whilst "'a lot' of commuters" had been observered it wasn't clear if those commuters were on bike, on foot, in cars, etc.
I was probably being pedantic.
@Bruce
Yes, that was me. Didn't notice the bike although I remember someone saying hello as I was taking a photo of the walls of the tunnel.
Also, the wind is fairly going to get up tomorrow.
Metcheck has morning commute at Easterly 21 to 33mph getting up to 26 to 41mph for home commute and then up to 54mph overnight to Tuesday.
Heaviest rain should be just in time for home commute and then again overnight into Tuesday very heavy.
Luckily it's still warm enough to just get wet - although a couple of days last week pushed me right into long sleeves / gloves / gilet territory.
Not having much luck finding a good day for colleague commute take 2.
We had the heating on the other night for the babysitter. I like to wait until October but never do
Dave, if he'sonly going to ride in good weather, I think you might as well give up now.

So was it wet this morning? I thought it was, but I was dry when I got to work. The wet weather gear is worth every penny.
"
Perhaps Dave's colleague wants to make sure he is ready/wants to cycle commute before he buys 'all weather' stuff.
yeah, i'm wearing wet weather gear of the stretchy variety not waterproofs, and to be fair, am not wet. Off to see if any of the showers work....
I wore bad weather everything this am - including bike. The blue bike will have to wait for its birthday. The commute in was straightforward.
I actually rode in on the Gilmerton Road cyclepath this am, forcing another commuter going the opposite way onto the road as it is simply too narrow in places for two bikes alongside eachother #cyclepathfail
I did put on longs and shoe covers as a concession to the expected weather, but it didn't really seem to be actually raining much (for instance, big sections of the path to 5ways were largely dry).
re: work, most days it doesn't rain (as I discovered when I was keeping count) so even a fair-weather commuter will get a lot of miles in. But I figure the first few times you try need to be OK so you are sold on the good side of it, then you can always accept a soaking with equanimity...
I also came in in full wet weather gear and didn't think the rain was that bad - but I think I might need it later! I didn't notice that there were any more or less bikes about than usual.
A few Less bikes in the garage but from experience the commuters in my office who are put off by weather tend to avoid windy days rather than wet ones.

@CyclingEdin the rain doesn't seem to be stopping the cyclists in London today.
"
That's the rain on in EH12 now
Rain in EH1. Big heavy start followed by a slight easing-off.
A couple less bikes in the garage today too and came across no-one on my largely road based commute through Ravelston and out to Murrayfield to Wester Coates.
Stormy night due.
Hmmm, not sorry to have to take the car today! Blowing a hoolie outside and still wet.
Hope it improves (a lot) for the weekend :-s
Urgh, Monday I somehow managed to commute without getting wet. Looks like a different story today!
Is it me or is the wind blowing in a very different direction to normal. I had the wind behind me going up Colinton/Craiglockhart road
nope, not just you. definitely not our normal pattern.
It's your own wind...
Generally from east not west.
'Unusual for time of year'
'Expect trees to be blown over as they are not used to bending with the wind in that direction'
