I figure I'll just dress as I would for cycling around town, but will carry a hi-viz vest with me "just in case" as it might be useful to demonstrate the difference (or otherwise) in visibility of wearing and not wearing one?

That was easily the most socially productive trackstand practice session I've ever done. Turns out a fair percentage of the population are genuinely surprised that blindspots exist for buses. Hopefully they'll translate that to their own vehicles and the behaviour of cyclists.
Thank for the biccies, Bruce'n'Paul! And: nice Cannondale.

Many thanks for coming along on Saturday to help out at the road safety awareness event. We couldn't have done it without you. I didn't imagine you would have clocked up quite so many miles cycling round our bus.
The overall feedback from the adults and teenagers sitting in the bus drivers seat was they had no idea how large the "blind Spots" on the near side of the bus are.
I certainly spoke to quite a few people who said they had regularly cycled up the inside of buses in the past. Thankfully after our demonstration I am convinced we have opened many peoples eyes and changed their behaviours whether it be a cyclist, motorist or pedestrian.
Personally the next time I organise a similiar event I think I would use yellow reflective tape to mark on the ground the large blind spot areas. The chalk marking was OK but not as visible as perhaps tape would have been. If you have any other suggestions myself and Paul would welcome them.
It was good to meet you and your families and thanks again for your help.
cheers
Bruce
PS Glad you liked my T2000 Cannondale. Paul couldn't believe how much weight I had in my rear panniers cycling to the event. It's a good workhorse indeed.

@Bruce - I was thinking that child's playground / pavement chalk (comes in inch-thick sticks) would have sufficed.

Great to meet you guys and thanks for the King of Biscuits the waggon wheels. Our boys loved theirs. I'm glad we were usefull but have to admit when I turned up to see Kappers doing circles round the bus in what only could be decribed as a cyclist pen, I pissed myself! & then did when he pressed a few buttons on his cycle puuta and told me he'd ridden 5.6 miles!
