Across the 10 days, 33 people were also caught using mobile phones while driving.
Insp Norman MacLeod, of Northern Constabulary's road policing unit, said: "Despite our best efforts to encourage motorists to drive responsibly and within the speed limits, there is still an alarming number of people detected not doing so."
Quelle surprise!
Don't worry though, it's the road's fault. Once the A9 is fully dual carriageway, it will be totally safe.

Actually on telly the police were blaming the drivers.
I'm sure the politicians might imagine that an 'upgraded' road will solve the problem - well it should with the money they are spending...
Actually on telly the police were blaming the drivers.
Yes, but the drivers watching the telly (including the government to an extent) will blame the road.
Wait, don't the politicians want to make it even easier to go even faster on this (and similar) A-roads?
If the A9 was a cycle lane, it would be getting some chicanes, fences, bollards, speedbumps and a healthy dose of paint, STAT.
Wait, don't the politicians want to make it even easier to go even faster on this (and similar) A-roads?
Naturally. But then the answer to speeding is to increase average speeds, no? Thereby easing the 'frustration' of drivers on 'slow' roads. Then you can increase the maximum speed limit...
At least Scot Gov have said no to the last bit, if not the rest.
I was interested that they "only" caught 33 people on mobiles.
Agree with average speeds on the A9. If you do 60 then you pick up a queue very rapidly. It is a nice road to drive at 60, though!
For the avoidance of doubt, sarcasm mode was ON in my previous post...
