Why didn't CCE know about this??
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 16years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

Why didn't CCE know about this??
I dunno, for the same reasons CCE are not invited to all the other fashion shows in Glasgow?
Perhaps one has to attend the right sort of dinner parties in the West End, Merchant City, etc.?
Yeah but 'we' have previous -

coz we're not a bunch of trendy weego hipsters who like standing about on street corners eating oysters in our grandads jackets?? (other reasons are available)
Is that Laidback's red Paperbicycle in photo 20?
I assume out invite got lost in the post. We could have worn Anth's cap. Take it in turns.
I think it all looks rather jolly.
Do you think there is headgear specific dress code? For example if the guidance was wear what you like on your head as long as it has a tweed theme, I would comply.
Long time since I lived in Glasgow but the people in the photos were probably around, just never together in such large numbers?
Those of us on Facebook knew about it!
There was a query recently about one in Edin. I said I thought folk would be up for it. talk to Mimi.
A couple of years back I got as far as a draft 'Tartan and Tweed Ride' website. I think I was looking into it all with Kim, then it turned out that 21st Century Kilts were looking into running one - had a date and everything, so our one was dropped, figuring we'd just tag along. Then their one was cancelled at late-ish notice.
Tis a lovely idea - last year I chatted to purveyors of tweed in Edinburgh, Walker Slater, about the possibility. Most of the guys there cycle, and convincing them to sponsor something would probably be quite easy - but I reckon they probably had a role in the Glasgow one.
Must keep an eye out for this next year - I have a rather spiffing tweed jacket I could wear.

Paging Tulyar. Tulyar to the grey twill haberdashery phone please.
Well there might be a "Harris Tweed Ride" in Edinburgh next year as part of the Edinburgh Festival of Cycling. Negotiations with the Harris Tweed Authority have recently been opened...
Harris Tweed output up significantly according to Guardian on Saturday. Not through worn out bahoochies of cyclists but more tinie tempah
"Well there might be a "Harris Tweed Ride" in Edinburgh next year as part of the Edinburgh Festival of Cycling. Negotiations with the Harris Tweed Authority have recently been opened..."
Kim, have a word with Walker Slater as well - purveyors of tweed, cyclists almost to a man, and generally nice folk.
IIRC Walker Slater were involved in a Tweed Run. I thought it was the London one (but could be wrong).
As I mentioned some six months ago there was talk of Edinburgh getting its first Harris Tweed Ride, so thought it is about time to give you an up date.
The first Edinburgh Harris Tweed Ride will be on the 23rd June 2013 at part of the Edinburgh Festival of Cycling and yes Anth the route does take in a stop to talk to those nice folk at Walker Slater ;-)
I am now looking for eight people to act as stewards during the ride, so here is your chance to be a part of history... ;-)
I'm impressed by the lady wearing a corset to ride her bike in the photo gallery... O_O
We also had possibly the first Tartan Ride one weekday evening.
Down goes the gauntlet....
Wilmington's anth and I (baker boy bunnets) formed an alliance with kaputnik (satchel) at POP2 as an unplanned tweedinista brigade
The 23rd is also the Balerno Village Screen premiere of Janapar with Q and A afterwards from the filmmaker Tom Allen. Tom cycled round the world and made his very entertaining documentary.
Might Still be tix left if you are quick, just google Balerno Village Screen, if you do visit the site you may spot me impersonating Walter Matthau in a mock potter for the odd couple.
@gembo Yes the 23rd is the busiest day in the Edinburgh Festival of Cycling's programme of events, this might be an issue...
Kim mostly our usual loyal gang of cinema goers turning out for janapar but hopefully still possible for people to cycle out the WoL path if weather nice, might even still be light on return. 7.30 kick off for janapar
Um, not quite the point I was making, the showing of Janapar is a part of the Edinburgh Festival of Cycling's programme of events http://www.edfoc.org.uk/programme/sunday-23rd-june-2013 also have to say that Janapar is a lovely film and Tom is a really nice guy. Just worried that with so much in the programme, things will get a bit stretched (I only have to be in three places at once)...
Just hoping that I can find the stewards I need for the Tweed Ride.
Free exhibition tomorrow! (And until 6 tonight)

@kim what arrangements for 23rd? might consider a transit over the summit at Kirk o Shotts.
Might even combine tweed argyll jacket with kilt....if it can be made to fit. Was a bit wing & prayer for Glasgow (first) Tartan Ride.
