How long before they are banned from pavements...

Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

There was a bit on radio scotland phone in about this yesterday when a woman (glasgow I think) said she scoots to school much to her kids embarrassment !!
I get a lot of waves from young men, which I enjoy very much
Aww. :-)
*bears this in mind for later years*
Saw LOADS of people going about on scooters in France this year. Big places especially - Lyon had all sorts of ages using scooters, so many I did actually comment on it at the time to my other half. Looked odd at first, then thought, "why not?"
sometime this summer one of the business programmes on the World service - the one that has a panel of 3 CEOs on it - included some guy who runs a UK-based company making adult scooters. apparently they're leading the market and doing very well.
I see lots of kids scooting down the hill to school past my house. I also see lots of parents carrying said scooters back up the hill at home time. It seems scooters and hills are something of a one way deal.
After pushing my bike up Craighouse several times lately, I am tempted to say that that applies to bikes too. But I don't approve of parents carrying/pushing them for their kids!
this is the best bit:

Wasn't there a fad for adult scooters about 11 or 12 years ago? Mostly young 'hip' types at the time IIRC.
I think they were popular in the City of London for a couple of months for dashing young executives to scoot down to Pret A Manger for post video conference macchiatos. Or something.
I distinctly remember arty types in various cities around the UK scooting away (including various friends in Edinburgh and, ahem, my future spouse).
