  2. Well there's a precedent with Rangers...

They should just stick a roof on Tynecastle and turn it into a velodrome... ;)

That would suit me fine, as long as they keep Meadowbank too.

Well if Hearts really went out of business there might be some sort of 'athletics stadium opportunity'.

The current Meadowbank situation - stadium and velodrome - not looking good.

Hearts need help from fans, says John Robertson

'Dear moderately paid people, please give us some cash so we can keep paying highly paid people - and cover the tax/NI that we should already have passed on.

Ps hope your employers pay their tax/NI when due, HMRC not quite so indulgent towards little people.'

    Good. Money. After. Bad....

I'm sure pretty sure these "investors" won't be happy when Hearts goes the same way as Rangers and Livi and they end up out of pocket. Then again people have very short memories...

The only valid debate now is how can you help the club. Is the club worth less than £110?

Football's been a house of cards for years now; Rangers was just the first of many.

It's at times like this where football fans need to ask themselves "Just *what* is my football club?" I'd hope that most of them would decide that it is something more nebulous than a PLC or limited company and head down the AFC Wimbledon route.

Well, I've bought my shares in the full expectation that it is, in effect a donation.

The question of what constitutes a club is a very interesting one, PS. It's certainly more than a PLC, the players or even the collective fans. Wish I knew; something to do with cultural identity I suppose, and cycling seems to know a bit about that too.

So, it's my local team, with all that's good and ugly about it, and I can support it a wee bit, so I will. No more (or less) important than that, I suppose.

" He has asked for a schedule of games and I understand he is
deciding on a date to come to Edinburgh"

    (1) 'schedule of games'?? Eh, look at BBC sport website
    (2) My uneducated guess is that he will arrive about 5 minutes before the court presses the 'exterminate' button with a bag of cash and a lot of camera flashbulbs
    (3) Therefore he will be hailed as some kind of white knight by those of a hearts persuasion (which does not include me, for the avoidance of doubt).

I have no time for businesses that deliberately evade tax to gain some kind of advantage - whether they are Vodafone, Starbucks, Apple, Google, or a pro football team.

I have less time for the owners when they are clearly taking the supporters for a ride.

Big difference between the Hearts situation and that at Rangers is that in the latter case the biggest creditor was HMRC. With Hearts, this issue has been precipitated by an unpaid tax bill, but the biggest creditor by a large margin is Romanov's company Ukio Bankas. So if the company goes into administration they will be able to put a CVA (Company Voluntary Arrangement) in place to clear the debts at x pence in the pound, and HMRC will have to accept it. Will be interesting to see what happens to the stadium and, should it get sold, where the revenue from that sale ends up. I suspect Mr Romanov already knows the answer to that and that it will help to assuage the pain of the small number of pence Ukio will receive for each of the 20m pounds Hearts owes it.

    @Bhachgen

    Not sure that's entirely true.

The immediate problem is the £450K that is outstanding to HMRC.

The next issue is that like Rangers, Hearts have had a wee bit of an issue paying HMRC anything and have a 'big' tax case (£1.79M) pending, if they loose that... The Hearts board have now admitted that the £2M share sale is to pay for the 'Big' tax case, so they obviously aren't hopeful of the outcome.

Added to all of that is the fact that Hearts are currently running a £2M per year deficit, I'd say Hearts are in a very smilar position to the Rangers oldco.
