As you should have picked up by now, we're planning to Pedal on Parliament again next year, only this time it will have to be bigger and better. POP was the massive success it was thanks in huge part to the folk on here who got so involved and put in masses of amounts of time to spread the word. We'll need your support again - but more importantly we need people to get involved in the core organising team, both from within Edinburgh and further afield.

So this is partly an announcement and partly a call to the pub ... On Tuesday it's the Cycling Scotland Conference near Haymarket and a number of us will be there. The plan is to meet up casually afterwards, hopefully all fired up, to discuss the next steps for POP2. We'd welcome anyone who wants to to come along but particularly people who'd be interested in helping out. If we're aiming for the second weekend in May for POP2, then it will be almost exactly 6 months away. Hopefully that will give us time to get something organised that nobody can ignore.

The suggestion at the moment is to meet at the Haymarket bar (unless anyone has a better place that is handy for the station - or a reason why not) early in the evening (we'll probably be there from about 5pm onwards). Anyone and everyone welcome, as long as you're in broad agreement with our manifesto! http://pedalonparliament.org/the-manifesto/

If you can't make it and would still like to help - then let us know.

    @Puzzle - ah cheers, that's the Sunday, isn't it?
@uberuce and zenfrozt - excellent. I think my train home isn't till 8 so hopefully there will be people hanging on a bit later!

OK - something to bear in mind. Hard to avoid bikey events at that time of year (last weekend in April is the Scottish Bike Show...)

I'll try and make it along - if I can be of help, I'd like to contribute. I'll probably be early rather than late - I have visitors coming along later in the evening.

Good to meet some new faces and see Dave and Sally again.

I suspect POP v2.0's challenge is going to be keeping control of the beast that was only partially awakened last year. If anyone knows people in the plasteel industry, can you look into having a good few sets of maker hooks rustled up?

I did go, met lovely people, and I'm excited to be helping with PoP. Haven't felt so cheery about cycling in ages. (Squeeee!!!)

Meh. Had to go home and tend to childs, which is doubly irritating since apart from meeting several nice people the whole event today left me royally *ed off. If there was a time to get me, this evening would have been it. But you missed. Ha!

    Sally,
Didn't hear about meet-up tonight till just now.
Shame as I'm also keen to help.
Saw David's tweet earlier re Jim Orr's suggestion that we have Pedal On Council.
Lets take him at his word, then shall we?
Let me know how I can help/if there are other meet-ups etc

Hi everyone - thanks for these cmments - especially those of you who coudn't make it. We'll be intouch with our list of volunteers and contacts from pop soon. This just seemed like too good an oppostunity to pass up for brainstorming and making contact with potential volunteers. It was great to see and talk with everyone. Lots of good ideas and enthusiasm!

I'm definitely interested in helping out. I've been pretty rammed in the last week helping SWMBO get a report out and prepare for a fortnight conferencing in Japan (not re: bikes!) so I've missed all of this.

Why does Jim Orr want a Pedal on Council (surely it would have to be "Cycle on the Council"?), he is half in charge of it AFAIK. Or am I missing internet sarcasms there?

Maybe he too is frustrated by the councils lack of, well everything - and wants a few thousand folk to back him up? I have the same problem at work too.

Glad to see lots of enthusiasm for POP2. My energies are concentrated elsewhere at the moment but I am keen to support/poster/chalk and turn up as before.

Deepest apologies for not making it, the best laid plans of mice and cyclists...I was delayed just long enough at work to make it impossible.

I'll keep in touch, and if I can help, I will

It was great to meet people last night even if I arrived pretty late on. Looking forward to this :D

Hello all, thanks to those of you who came last night (I think rolling pub meetings are definitely the way to go ...) and to all who have subsequently offered to help too. If people want to get involved (and I mean *really* involved) then DM me your email address.
If you want to help out but maybe just on something specific, like marshalling or leafleting and don't want to spend the next six months reading emails and waking up at 3am wondering where you can source 17 panda costumes with enough visibility to ride a Brompton in then also DM me your email address but make it clear in the message what sort of thing you'd like to help with. There will be lots more calls for help as the process unfolds so don't worry if you missed the initial gathering

    Onwards and upwards...

    Bump!

Just a reminder that I need folk's email addresses if they want to help out on POP. Can you DM me with the details asap or if you're coming to PY on the 30th you can give me the details then

    Cheers
