Middle Meadow Walk? Nice and central, and wait until after most have gone home?

Unless there is somewhere equally open, with no public road and less traffic (cyclewise)?

    Murrayfield park?

(The fact that I live 5 mins away has in no way influenced this suggestion)

I'd quite fancy getting across, but couldn't get to Waverley until 1914 on a weekday. Could potentially do this saturday.

Murray field seems a good plan, it is dependably empty after dark and has plenty of room for trying out even the most powerful of lights.

How about the Innocent Tunnel? Nice and dry!

Innocent railway between the tunnel and Duddy is seriously dark these evenings, but maybe not so good for "street" conditions. ie car lights drowning out bike lights etc.

Could combine it with PY these dark mornings! (Less the car probably)

Murrayfield park looks like it'll work just as well as Harrison, so I'm fine with that.

This has already slid unceremoniously off the front page so is there any progress with deciding a date/time?

Me, I'm currently unemployed not doing much with my life so anything suits.

Murrayfield would be too far off my commute so you'd have to imagine how my Ixon shapes up.

I've seen Dave on the NEPN so have some idea what my Saferide looks like to approaching traffic. I'll need to follow someone with a Seculite+ sometime.

Where is Murrayfield Park? I can't find it on Google...

Roseburn Park is its proper name. Just off Water of Leith / 2 minutes through streets from end of the Roseburn Path

I'm yer man. When I replaced cracked mudguard I accidentally drilled the holes for the Seculite slightly off-centre, but it's been fortuitous as the light now points slightly to the right (when seen from behind) therefore towards drivists and away from following cyclers.

    Bumpity bump.

There's been some vigorous discussion of lighting and visibility recently and that reminded me that this should still happen at some point.

    Weekday/weekend?

    I'd support this.

Wingpig and I successfully arranged a micro-Lumen the other week:

Laidback provided further modelling, ta again to both.

That also represented my first(and for the foreseeable future: only) foray into being a bikecammer.

I therefore no longer need to be told about my lighting, but will gladly and karmicly follow wingpig's good example and model for anyone needing.

So, Roseburn/Murrayfield Park, Tuesday? I will get there at around 1820.

Amir, if that doesn't suit I am overdue a pilgrimage to the Bike Station, so I'll be in your neck of the woods on Wednesday at 1810ish anyway. Blackford Glen Road looks promisingly bereft of lampposts on Google Street View, so maybe that'd be ideal?

Perfect for me. Only concern is Roseburn might still be a bit busy with commuters/walkers at that time, but there's a separate path up the back away from the main one.

No worries, uberuce, I was more interested in a techy meet up than being overly worried about my visibility (except when my light fails). I'm Dundeeing on Tuesday.

I too would be up for a meet. Next Tue looks good.

I'm busy on Tuesday, and consequently won't be using the torpedo that day. However its twin Cyos are measured at 120 lux, though I don't know the area over which that measurement was taken.

I was admiring the torpedoes lighting last week, front lights are pretty cool and plenty visible.

I wish, about a year later, that I'd called this thread "I Like Big Lux and I Cannot Lie"

    Ah well.

If I leave work a bit later than normal then this is on my route home so perfect for me.

I might be able to do this, on the Brompton.

    Posted 10 years ago #
  27. I reckon I can do this, if only for the photo op, but I'd also like to see what my dynamo lights look like to others (given I can't really check myself as they dim to the standlight when stopped!).

Got a hub light on my bike. Can come over tomorrow evening after shop- but not sure exact meeting point.
    Roseburn/Murrayfield Park, 1820?

    Roseburn Park?

I'm going to try to come along to see how my lights compare, but after my meeting I'll have to go home to exchange vehicles and then get across town again. So unlikely to be at Roseburn for 1820 on the dot.

When Charlotte and Graham from a cycling forum far, far away tested lights, dynamo power was accommodated by use of rollers and some steadying hands on shoulders.

Unfortunaately at 1820 I'm 20+ miles away preparing food for No1 son!
Someone can have a ply on whatever I bring to the next PY and I guess that'll have to do...
Have fun chaps and chapesses :-)
