Unwrap ‘cotton wool kids’ plea

when I worked in Castlemilk (with over 16s - guys who would beg up the centre for 50p to buy a DF118) we used to take the guys hillwalking. If they smoked dope in the bus they got put out by the side of the road. At the time a story broke of a school trip where an unruly kid got put out on the roadside, the bus didn't drive off like ours used to but the kid decided out of pig-headedness to leg it and they couldn't find him. The teachers got the blame. Beginning of the end for teachers trying to do extra-mural activities. Most teachers make their own assessments of risk everyday and the asseessment isn't - "is this risky for the pupils" rather it is "if this goes wrong will I get backed up or hammered by managers". Having said all that the wonderous new Tynecastle High is introducing extr long Wednesday lunch break and teachers are all running extra-mural clubs. So, there is hope. I want to start some bike maintenance classes (might need some help).
