Stirling researchers say a mix of hard and easy training is best for fitness

    I thought that this was widely known knowledge.....
    Every cyclist I've spoken to about training has said a mix of longer lower intensity rides interspersed by harder high intensity training.

    Oh well at least now we KNOW it works with science (only joking I appreciate the fact that they're investigating these things!)

    That fits Joe Friel's training plans pretty well: 20% high intensity to 80% low intensity.

    But was it Barney Rice who said that amateurs go too fast when they should be going slow and too slow when they should be going fast (in training)?
