Visibility decreasing out here at Gyle (and not just the low light). Snow appears much fluffier and seems to be blowing upwards along side of building. Quite blizzardy, but still no sign that it might start lying. Have been watching the roofs opposite all day.

Great photo o_O. I camped in the snow on Aviemore a few years ago, and didn't cover the sides of the tent with snow. I left my boots outside in the porch and in the morning found them full of wind blown in snow. Fortunately it was below zero all night (on the hill) so I just inverted the boots and tapped them together to empty the dry snow out leaving the boots cold but dry inside!

@kaputnik what was the Broomhouse Path issue? I got on ok this morning from the crossing at Stenhouse as usual.

Have they 'improved it' since then?

@Nelly there was a contraflow blocking access across one of the pedestrian crossings, and yet more pavement reclaimed by tram fencing. Seemed to be some sort of pedestrian diversion also, but with traffic roaring past in each direction I didn't have time to figure it out.

Yes, sadly it was an 'improvement' I encountered on way home.

    Cracking stuff

Yeah, roads here getting covered. Even the bus route less clear than it was.

Having just been out for a spin, the snow is starting to win the days battle. It's wet and slushy, but it's lying on untreated surfaces to a depth of over a 1cm so far. All surfaces are pretty slidy, plenty wheelspinning starts in evidence on the part of the front-wheel drives out there.

Not here in the northern part of Edinburgh. It's like a 'normal' wet'n'windy Scottish winter day. The snow has all melted, mostly it was sleet anyway. I was out on the Ute doing errands late afternoon and not troubled by a single bit of slush.

Must be the proximity of the sea...

Crowriver it ws like that in the south too, until c.7pm. Now sitting in roads etc. but also less heavy fall.

I've only seen a wee bit of slush on the roads I've ventured onto this past 36 hours, and that was mostly in the vicinity of Liberton Brae, also Straiton retail park. I've just looked out of the window and the only hint of snow is some accumulated slushy stuff on a few vehicle roofs/windscreens. Streets, roads, pavements all clear as far as the eye can see. Still snow on Arthur's Seat/Salibury Crags by the looks of it.

I went to bed hoping to cycle through a winter wonderland this morning, crooning away in my best fixed-grin Jonny Mathis style. Since the signs last night were good I even looked out my novelty sweater and the tools needed to effect an alarmingly precise haircut.

It was instead just mank when I woke up, so I affected a grim and lartly lycra warrior look.

It's gone all floofy in the sky now, though.

Forecast is warmer for the weekend - a massive 4 degs for Saturday. Toasty.

Like 'largely', only with poor typing and lartly incompetent proofreading.

    "Like 'largely'"

    Lartly sounds more interesting/mysterious.

    I shouldn't have asked!

I'm working from home. The snow looks nice out the window, but roofs aren't getting any whiter and the back green is a slushy mess.

And that's a reason not to be riding your bike?

Sleat again on the way in from The Sunny Kingdom. Dark Clouds and slushy conditions under tyre. The A90 is a little slushy in places and at the approach to the carpark of the Cramond Brig the path is decidedly skiddy.

Otherwise it was light and fluffy in places but mostly blown in my face, but less so than yesterday :-)

It is much brighter now - I can see the Pentlands and they look glorious.

Pentlands were nice (and incredibly busy) on Sunday when I went for a walk, despite the monochrome conditions.

As I laboured uphill a cyclist passed me going downhill on
    this journey. Looked fun.

Saw a mini-tractor on the icy hill-descent leading to the Pollock roundabouts this morning.

Gazed upon Fife this morning from the train, and north of Markinch or so it started to resemble Lapland. The area by Ladybank/Cupar looked particularly wintery: as the snow lay all around, deep and crisp and even, so the hymn says.
