Lol, Mrs Smudge is many wonderful things, unfortunately cyclist is not one of them, and unlikely ever to be one. She isn't anti, it's just not for her.
So indoctrinating (sp?) Smudge minor is my responsibility ;-)

Mr. Cini, who also serves as Tisbury emergency management director, said the town is issuing a parking ban from 8 p.m. until noon on Saturday to allow for snowplows and contractors to clear the streets.

@chdot. I'm pretty sure that we've got a similar order in place on the streets round Morningside (Balcarres St, Morningside Drive) that bans parking when heavy snow is forecast.

@Greenroofer I've seen similar for Gorgie Road (though I think it was last winter)

Millions of people across New England have being warned to stay indoors

A major snowstorm has brought swathes of the north-eastern US and eastern Canada to a standstill, leaving about half a million homes without power.

“As the wet weather hits the colder air, it will turn to snow, particularly in the East of Scotland, and that is likely to bring disruption to roads including the M74, the A9, roads between Stirling and Perth and areas south of Edinburgh,” he said.

I saw a forcast for snow on Weds morning around 5am which I guess is in the west. I think I'll still come in by bike and see how bad it gets. We'll have nothing again!

Snowing already here in Colinton. Settling on the pavements but the road looks clear.

Aye, my favourite - cycling in the dark, below freezing and in snow. At 7am.

On the way in from Dalkeith, the snow was settling on the pavements but not the main roads, although sometimes the cycle lane on the side looked a bit sketchy. Side roads are worse.

A little snow in Gorgie. A bit more in Livingston, but nothing to worry about at the moment.

Is this the third day The Scotsman has foretold the same doom?

The forecasters have cried wolf too often. Today we have a few mm of snow for a short time. February is a winter month. No story here.

Temperatures are due to climb up to normal values for the weekend - it's supposed to be dry with no much wind.

Nice and snowy on the cycle in from Sunny Fife!! Lying in most places except for main stretches of road. The Bridge had been swept but was settling and the A90 and Blackhall path was snowy but no problem in Snow Tyres.

A light falling of snow in Marchmont still, kind of lying on roofs but not really on roads and paths.

Snow in winter? STOP THE PRESSES!

Anyone been along the Innocent, particularly the nether bit from Bingham to the Jewel? I need to get to B&Q after work but presume the roads would be wiser.

Judging by the weather forecast, snow won't be a problem. Torrential rain might be for most of us but I'm sure it'll not bother you.

STOP THE PRESSES AGAIN. Still winter. Still snowing. Still not really lying. RESTART THE PRESSES.

Our news team is currently on location and reporting that conditions are wintery and people should carry a flask with them at all times. There are literally millimetres of snow on the ground now.

If you guys saw the kids being delivered* to nursery w/out proper shoes (much less boots) and in tops suitable for September, you woud understand why the media over-reacts!

@SRD, are you implying that the once proud Scots, whose sarcastic stoicism in the face of the most dreadful weather is legendary, have turned into a bunch of mollycoddled, centrally heated, car driving, impractical softies???

Stop the world I want to get off.*
