Yeah, I think that was mentioned last time, and it's next on the list. Although may not snow again this year (hah!) - I was just about ready to rip off the studded tyres and the plough couldn't be pulled without them.

Only evidence near me is the car parked opposite with snow on its roof but it must have come from somewhere else as its the only one

Went out when it looked better here, went up past Harlaw Reservoir which was a big mistake on skinny tyres as the road was covered in slush, horrible, got back onto the Lang Wang and went to Carnwath which was fine on the main road and by the time I got home again it had all gone. Absolutely baltic freezing mind you...

So, I shouldn't take the spiky tyres off then?

Aye I'm wondering if I should pop my spikey tyres back on the CX bike, especially for tomorrow when I'm riding the Forth & Tay 200.

    "Just cancelled ride"

    That's a pity.

    Just brightening up.

I should have said postponed. We'll go next week. I didn't think it was very responsible to take folk out in these conditions. If anything went wrong, we'd be very cold and wet very quickly.

And my feet & hands were already soaked through and frozen.

Shame on you selfish people who took off their spiked tyres, you have clearly angered the weather gods! ;)

Cant be bothered putting the spikes back on, the rolling resistance is so much better with the gators - just as long as the snow doesnt lie, of course.....

My daily bike is in the wrong gear while the spikes are on, and I'm loathe to change that.

oops, guilty as charged, spikes came off this week. I didn't think the D&G weather gods' writ ran as far as Edinburgh though.

Went out, bought a paper, came back.

Not entirely pleasant (horizontal wet sleet).

WILL go riding PM whatever weather doing.

Trip up to IKEA in a mix of blizzard, sleet, snow and hail and headwind. Not altogether enjoyable. Came home via a quiet Frogston Road in the sunshine was much nicer.

Down to scotmid twice today, needed eggs the second time for bread and butter pudding (one of only two things you can do with panetonne). Snowed on twice. Off to garage to flip wheel as sub zero tomorrow and ice is a threat.

Quite a lot of snow in Eskbank. I have yet to see how cold it is or whether slicks are viable.

Canalpath (and side roads) fully snow covered - first time this year?

Radio forth stating all traffic crawling but that rods are passable. Locally in Balerno, the cars are far fewer, no sign of a bus, snow just stopped, bike still a consideration

Roads are dodgy between Eskbank and Gilmerton and, with the dodgy driving, I'm glad I'm on the bus.

I went on wee blur floofy just on slicks. Next time I'll take the handful of minutes to swap the front tyre for the old CX one still kicking about. The spikes are grand for ice but not enough tread for snow.

Made it fine to the government building on Bankhead/Broomhouse, then the roads were fully white with hard-packed snow. Bike was dodgy as hell, so I sacked it for the path and pushed for a bit until I got bored and gingerly remounted. Going through fresh snow turns out to be okay, but footprints and other tracks were squirrely.

Use of rim brakes is heavily discouraged. I was never going at a speed where foot/fixie braking wasn't enough, but when using the handbrakes to keep the bike still at junctions I could feel the crud grinding away.
