Saw snow drops yesterday on the way to a funeral at the University. I was a wee bit late because scotrail cancelled two trains and the third was late. I should have just cycled.

Met office have a yellow snow warning out today.

And some folk are predicting a return to ice and snow if the jet stream meanders.

Saw what looked like Winter Aconite yesterday flowering in the verges - I don't know if it was, my knowledge of botany would easily fit in a matchbox, without the need to remove any matches.

Ditto and yet somehow I've got an honours BSc in… botany.

It seemed like a good idea at the time.

Hehe - I did a BSc in Brewing - and now my knowledge is literally only as an end-user :)

I'm quite good at that part though.

Time to swap a winter warmer for a lighter ale?

The first snowdrops appeared in the garden during the week. A few green buds starting to appear in the hedgerows. Blackbirds starting to sing. Spring definitely on the way :-)

Must get down the allotment at some point and plant a few things.

Hail shower in Balerno 6am. Looked icy for while then bin lorries helped disperse it. I was running to get my bin out as they were at my neighbours already already. Managed it and the lorry went out the Whang instead of rolling down to Balerno. Hopefully my bin and my other neighbours will be picked up on the return route.

BTW I wouldn't want this post to suggest I follow the guidance of putting my trash out on the kerbside for 7 a.m. Every second monday
