For a while after I published my first Quality Bike Corridor video the Bonaly Dairy lorry which parks illegally right on the corner of Ratcliffe Terrace and Grange Loan seemed to stop doing so.
(The video was passed on to someone from enforcement since it's a full time no-loading area, although I don't know if they did anything with it or not).
I have seen it a couple of times since, but today in the middle of rush hour another cyclist and myself were being pushed out into the busy uphill traffic, so I thought I'd stop and have a word.
The driver was belligerent. The shopkeeper was pleasant and apologetic but basically said we just had to look the other way because if the driver had to park down Grange Loan there were a few bins and he'd be further away (and some roads don't have cycle lanes anyway).
I have seen a warden moving these guys on once, but it obviously does little good. I'm guessing even if they were ticketed that £30 is just part of the costs of doing business.
Any ideas? I am sometimes concerned that myself or another rider might slam into the back of the lorry and need to sue them for huge amounts of compensation, but that's only going to happen if someone does get injured (a morbid hope, and not one I really want if truth be told).
