I'm amazed he didn't succeed with his attempted bribe - I know someone who has exceed 12points on his license several times, but each time has been allowed to keep his license as to lose it would "risk his small business folding" if he couldn't drive.

Sure he can afford to pay a driver for a couple of months......even more charitable, employ one full time and thus take someone from the dole queue!
@Pocopiglet, My thoghts exactly, if he is wealthy enough to pay a huge fine he can just emply someone to drive him around.
