Greetings from Team HubDock, Thank you for all of the communication regarding the HubDock. We are thrilled and challenged at the same time to address all of the comments pro and con regarding the HubDock. Our axle system is applicable for Road and Mountain Bikes with or without disc brakes. We would like to stress the safety advantage of our system. In addressing some of your concerns regarding safety and durability, with the HubDock features, the cogset is permanently attached to the frame lug, so once the wheel has been installed there is never the possibility of misalignment, so you never need to worry about brake caliper friction. The HubDock is stronger than conventional hubs due to use of more robust materials. The axel is larger in diameter, thus able to withstand greater sheer forces, for example when you need to jump a curb or hit a pothole. We would appreciate your suggestions on how to demonstrate to the cycling community of our new technology. As a start-up company with new technology, CrowdFunding, like KickStarter is one way to reach out. We are opened to suggestions and look forward to your input.

Folk worrying about the wheel falling out - I don't think so, despite the short length of thread apparently involved.

The basic principle is that used on motorcycles decades ago when they were designed as machines to be used rather than as fashion items.
