    "

"I'm just a normal person," he adds. "I just want to get on and do things with the least amount of fuss and stress. I get paid to ride my bike and, like anyone, I have to get up and go to the office. If you do a desk job, you have to get on the bus and walk in the rain – even on the days you don't want to do it. The same goes for me."

Hope he doesn't 'give up cycling'.

From the thread title I thought you were bragging about getting your tax return in early chdot.

20p per mile thank you Mr Taxman...

    "A few faint lines"

Do the herald no longer employ sub editors?

Obviously this is not the thing I should be focussing on in the article?

    25p a mile. Go CEC!!!

When I was a courier I was paid to ride my motorbike/bicycle, at first it was great, after two years of riding year round for a living (no ride equals no pay, "self employed" you see) there was no pleasure in riding.
    Nil
    Zilch
    Nada
Not even on a sunny day, it was just work...

I hardly touched a bike for a spell after I quit, took years before I actually rode anywhere just for the hell of it.

Moral: don't wish your hobby/sport to be your full time job, unless you're really lucky it has a habit of ruining it! Keep your fun, fun ;-)
