Today I got wet riding into the office.

I've been thinking carefully and I don't remember getting wet at any other point this year so far. Fact or fiction?

Assuming I didn't just wipe a week of epic storms from my memory, it's really been quite a dry start to the year.

Agree it's been drier. Although I've certainly got wet within the last few months.

We've had snow/sleet/slush, but not much rain

I'm tempted to say that any rain over the past couple of months has typically fallen during office hours, so commutes for me in particular have been dry (apart from the usual moisture associated with no mudguards).

I got a proper soaking on my way into work back in January, I think.

We have had a prolonged period of easterly winds. These are (almost) invariably drier.

There's definitely been rain at some point as I remember wondering whether to note it on my mileage-logging spreadsheet but can't remember if it was on a workday.

There was definitely one day recently when I wore full rain gear not wind/rain resistant cycle stuff, but I've similarly been thinking that it's been pretty dry.

Apart from the snow, I can't remember getting particularly wet in the last few months.

Strangely rain seems to be coming from east at the moment.

someday a real rain is gonna come and wash all the scum off the streets...

...at least it better do, as i'm not getting the carbon bike out until it does

that winter grit is everywhere still

I got rained on, on Monday.

Weird thing was it started just as I got to the Ferrytoll, and was on and off all the way into Edinburgh
Even weirder was that it seemed to be blue skies all around, except for where I was cycling. I must have upset the rain gods or something.

Should we start referring to you as "Travis", Baldcyclist?

February through May are typically the driest months of the year for Edinburgh. Therefore, it's no surprise that it's been less wet than the previous few months, since that's normal. Also, up to December, the amount of water falling from the sky during the previous 9 months was exceptional.

However, during January and February, I recall many times when it was raining, mainly on my way home rather than in the morning. Not huge downpours like 2012, but it was definitely raining. The mammoth puddle on the NEPN at Granton Road is proof of the amount of rain continuing to fall. (I hear it's been fixed - how I hope I can witness this on Monday)

The Granton Road puddle wasn't there the other day when the Drylaw bit and lower three Crewe Toll to Roseburn bridges and the stretch just before the Blackhall turn-off were all sporting full-width pondlets, so it looks like the scraping has worked.

mkns, the flooding on the path is a good reminder. Of course I don't (yet) go this way regularly, so it wasn't uppermost in my mind.

Must be a selective memory thing.

I got wet cycling to work a couple of days ago - and discovered that the trousers I was wearing go translucent when wet.

I got badly hailed on this evening on the way home. I was in shorts, and it was very sore. I rushed for cover yelping, and my thighs went scarlet from the assault.
