Yeah, there'd have to be some cycle infrastructure along Junction street to get to Henderson Street. May as well continue it for another 900m in my opinion...

And Henderson St is cobbled - which is the main reason I'm avoiding cycling on it at the moment. Any plans for getting it tarmacked?

A short section of Henderson St became tarmac a few years ago, but only a bit just north of Parliament St. I never go on that bit northbound (I'm usually crossing from Giles to Parliament then going along to the new dropped-kern cut-through on the other bank heading to the WoL) so can't tell how well it's doing under so many buses. Maybe there'll be a Brighton Place-style recobbling/flattening argument.

Henderson Street was fully recobbled in 2012. I walked past every day in the summer and the progress and different stages were fascinating. So a retro-fit rather than a re-do probably more likely.

Was that 2012 re-laying part of the same work which made the Shore one-way? For some weird reason I mostly went along Commercial St to get to the NEPN at Lindsay Road back then, so didn't use the Sandport opening as much as I do now.

Leith Walk will be closed northbound from London Road roundabout to Manderston Street. Leith Walk southbound will be restricted to 1 lane only, a 3.5 meter running lane will always be maintained, there will be no waiting allowed on the running lane.

Cycling infrastructure
Cyclists will be encouraged to use a temporary bidirectional cycle lane on the west side of Leith Walk, this will be maintained throughout the project with local diversions as and when required to carry out works, all diversions will be properly signed and available for use by all.

chdot now a Fifer so the question of consultation is moot.
Perhaps a subsequent weakening of the cycling life force in the city led unwittingly to this calamity.

That’ll be the special CEC interpretation of “temporary”.
My reasons for leaving Edinburgh were various, but the whole GSq saga made me give up bothering with CEC.
It was/is totemic of the way CEC can’t deal with simple things while pursing grand projects.
Is it necessary to reopen this (apart from the convenience of people with vehicles wider than a bicycle)?

Would the police station not be cut off otherwise? Can't imagine van-loads of bad boys and girls being off-loaded at a logistics hub and the bad boys and girls transported to the cells on trolleys. Well I can imagine it, but you know what I mean.

Happened to come across the TRO plans for T2N, some modest good news in that the rubbish crossing for those cycling north in the bidirectional lane has been replaced with a single stage crossing at Annandale Street: https://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/tramstonewhaven/downloads/file/289/permanent-designs-october-2019

Hellooo again!
Communication from the TtN programme is finally starting to open up again. The Active Travel Group meetings are resuming on the 28th. These stopped at the beginning of the year when Darren Wraight, the "Interface Manager" reporting to the Senior Responsible Officer (Hannah Ross) left to work for the contractors.
This is when we start discussing the detailed designs.
The Group included Living Streets, Active Travel Team; Edinburgh Cycle Hire; Access Panel; Transform; Spokes
The TROs were focussed on waiting and loading restrictions and did not contain much design detail. They confirmed the addition and impact of the side platform at Picardy Place and included a move of the McDonald Road tram stop further towards Picardy Place.There is a lot of new design detail in the arrangement plans in the planning portal for Prior Approval of the following, closing date yesterday/tomorrow:

20/04056/PA Shore tram stop and shelter, infrastructure 14 Oct. “” “”

20/04060/PA Ocean Terminal “” “” “” ""There has been no notification of these plans. Seemingly the PA is a bit of a formality, but worryingly there is a huge amount of detail in the associated arrangement drawings - potentially meaning that it's going to be difficult to get significant changes.
Spokes Planning Group is making initial comments on the designs, although probably not the appropriate process. We might need to form a sub-group to get into the detail.
