Yesterday, I managed 15,8,41 and 56. But my bad hand got caught when I had a particularly inglorious trip, so may not continue.

Mrs Paddy is also skipping, but I think minipaddy will take up the family baton- she has a best of 47 and also skipped backwards and then on one leg to show off...

Cut the old skipping rope into 3. Kids and I had good shot at it. Quite good fun. Less irritating to neighbours than kids rowing about their football score. Then I re-injured my hip which I hurt playing with them 3 summers ago.

Couple of hundreds and an 80 yesterday even though I wasn't at work and didn't need to skip. Very conscious of the risk of my metabolism slowing down without a couple of cycle-commutes and a fast walk each day.

@wingpig are you still just stopping rather than the rope catching? Very impressive figures either way

finally got the rope out, managed a quick 38 on first real attempt, mind you i'm just back from a 20 mile spin so should do better later on

notably a mental discipline as well - the moment you absent mindedly start thinking you might break the rope, it happens

Turns out Mr Bill purchased two (Reebok!) skipping ropes in case we go into a full lockdown, he says. Neither of them pink. I have no experience with non-pink ones. Need to find a place to skip. Our communal garden has grass everywhere, so not great.

    @bill

Picardy Place traffic island has polished granite setts.

@bill if dry the grass will be ok you soon wear it down to the mud - what happened to your mystery campers in the communal back green?

@IWARTS Thanks. Might be enough to skip all the way there and back.

@gembo the campers left after one night.

I just found a disused Reebok-branded HIGH SPEED SPORTS skipping rope under the chest with the video cassettes that we don't have a player for.

Not sure if I will manage one skip. It has been some time since I last tried.

I can lend you a video cassette player after the confinement, if it's VHS you need.

That would be lovely, thanks. Triage of the cassettes may well reveal that we have them on DVD as well of course.

VHS, DVD eh? Gramophone. Pianola. Book.

You can buy a VHS recorder for about 20 quid I think ? I am getting a Walkman for a tenner. To think I had the Walkman 2 a thing of beauty and cost me all my wages from my summer job that had not been spent on drink. In 1983. Heathfield Boating Pond.

Also inside a VHS recorder is a tiny glass 1 amp fuse. Replacing this can bring a dead VHS back to life like Optimus Prime in Transformers

The Repair Shop would ask Sue to carve a 1 Amp fuse from leather. "Awight, jubbly" quips Jay Blades.

@jdanielp that is tenth dan skipping also rolling

@iwrats - the repair shop repaired a Tippling Stick belonging to George V that he gave to an Aberdeen baker called Rennie. Lovely job but still involved a glass pippette inside a cane. George V surely better off with a hip flask

There's an actual sword stick in my mother-out-law's tool shed. Stabby steel blade in a cane. Might ask them to refurb that next series.

I've taken a dislike to the book-binder. No sense in it just don't like him.

Does the book binder wear two pairs of specs like Brenton and Steve?

Bill Paterson sort of hamming it up in the narration at times which is my highlight.

No, foppish faux-artisan stuff. Big red hankie in his pocket.

Even the tearfully grateful relatives hesitate to hug him. Know what I mean?

The rellys, have none of them watched the show. When it comes to the money shot they all cry and are too scared to touch the object.

i made it to 32 skips yesterday. but not both feet at the same time. that said, am jumping on grass, which is trickier.

micro-srd who couldn't manage more than 2 in a row when we started got up to 55 today. mini-srd has playground derived skills and quite bored with us. her rolling is also impeccable. but have not suggested she combine them.

we need some clarification here on the daily skip count

so if you break the rope, then you start again, start again, hey ebo, ebo ebnets

    BUT

if you do 30 then break the rope then do 12 then break the rope 27

do we record this as 30/12/27 in two breaks

    dont know how it works

@bax you skip until you catch the rope. You can choose to log all your goes or just your best go. @Wingpig has set high bar of 100 (no rope catch, he just stops and smokes a fag)

Back to repair shop - inkwell owner had it passed down from her granny who was killed by a cyclist. Fear not Jay Blades said it was a sweet little story *inkwell in shape of miniature trilby

That was last week. This week is more about doing 5 minutes non-stop whilst trying to film it in timelapse with a moving/panning viewpoint using a crude Lego motion control device.
