A thread about pubs that is rambling, off-topic and repeats itself - what could more on-topic?

I'm indignant about "no good pubs near Murrayfield" as the Roseburn Bar is really very nice on a non match day - good beer, friendly atmosphere, a handsome public bar rather like a London pub with fine big windows, a little snug. It's my local.

Jolly Judge has reinvented itself as a craft beer bar (with quite an excellent selection to that end!) and as such is a brilliant mix of beer geeks and Royal Mile "personalities".

Very much enjoyed my last visit.

I went in the Tap of Lauriston once or twice for some insane reason. It's reinvented itself as an hotel since. What was Nisbet's called again after it was Cas Rock? Something central American?

@rosie - yes, meant to ETA my post for Roseburn but out for several hours afterward - correct.

@wingpig - yes, original Tap is no more sadly, think the hotel calls it's "cafe bar" The Tap in homage.

If we are talking walks to pubs near stadia, then Clockwork Beer Co in Glasgow is walkable to Hampden.

@ARobComp That's good to hear. Not been to the JJ for 4 or 5 years, I think, but it used to be a favourite back in uni days. What beers did they have on last time you were in?

@PS Last time I was there, there was a tap takeover by Cloudwater who make tasty tasty beverages. So everything on was from them. Not sure what their normal taps look like now. However one must assume that they have some decent selection compared to the old belhaven/tennants/guiness of old.

@ARobComp Ooh, I'm sorry to have missed the Cloudwater... Will keep any eye out in future. Deuchars was my tipple of choice there when I was a student. It was pretty left-field back then...
