    Walking has always been better than running as less damage on the knees. It just takes longer to get to the aerobic level and expend the energy but walking 4 miles at 4 miles per hour uses same calories as running 4 miles at 8 miles per hour, it just takes 30 minutes longer.

    Cycling 4 miles at 16 miles per hour burns up almost nothing but you get there very quickly.

    I think a lot of people will be surprised to find out they can walk further than from front door to car, car to office / car to front door of Tesco*

    *other shopping barns are available.
