Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

Yes, the comments are probably better than the article (if that makes sense).
And a lot of the commentators echo my thoughts - if it is to work, you need to put the infra in place (i.e. give over certain key routes in town to bike / peds) not just paint on some roads and hope for the best.
The Milton Keynes example is often held up as 'well we give cyclists infra in MK and they still dont cycle much'. The answer to that one is pretty obvious - people who live in MK could work anywhere from London to Birmingham to Swindon and points in between.
It's not just cycling. For recreation and fitness you can't get any cheaper than walking and running but they too are largely shunned by the lower paid.

I've never been there but doesn't MK have pretty smooth car infrastructure too, reducing the push factors that add to the pull of nice bikeways etc?
I used to drive 1 mile to Waitrose as there was a quiet road and car parking at each end. Great times!
