Today's rubbish survey

Are we allowed another 'today's rubbish...' thread?

I was sent a link to a survey by Cyclescheme yesterday. It was mainly marketing, but it included a range of top questions (all mandatory), including:

    1) "Do you ever cycle with family and friends?" - options 'yes/no/occasionally'. What's the difference between 'yes' and 'occasionally'?

    2) "I smoke less since I started cycling" - options ranged from strongly agree to strongly disagree. No others. I had to put that I strongly disagreed, because I absolutely don't smoke any less than I did before.

    3) "I drink less since I started cycling". Same options. I had to disagree again, because I actually drink quite a bit more now, in order to replace the fluids I sweat out. Even if I wasn't being so pedantic, how do I use this scale to say that I drink the same amount of alcohol. Presumably I have to disagree? Is that really the answer they want?

    4) "Which of the following do you buy?". Options were "gels, energy bars, vitamin supplements, other (specify)" . There was no 'not applicable' option. I had a sense of humour failure at this point and wrote in the 'other' box "This is a stupid question because you're asking me to specify everything else I buy".

For reasons that are now beyond me, I didn't give up on this.

And it should be 'I smoke fewer since I started cycling..' shouldn't it?

Well if it is about smoking cigarettes it would be fewer fags. However, as in the smoking fire and smokeless coal it would be less. I steam but never made it to smoking. (Resisting the urge to link to Costa coffee story in the news yesterday which was a very sad tale)

It looked they were trying to sell insurance for a while. After they asked about cycling kit being fashionable I lost the plot and got a bit random.

In the question listing health foods, cereal bars, other what was other supposed to be? I put in Cornflakes.

I suspect my submission might not give them the answers they were looking for.

I had to stop at Q7. I have not purchased any bikes through the Cycle to Work scheme, but "0" is not an option.

    Q. How many bicycles would you have purchased in the Cycle to Work Scheme if you were to lie in an online questionnaire?

I did the survey too - I think you've 100% covered everything I thought whilst completing it!

I wonder if it was a "Yes Minister" type of survey - you know ask the questions to get the answers you want?

Is "Have you ever bought anything on finance?" a trick question?

A cycle to work scheme involved an employer loan and so would entail buying something on finance.

I gave it a quick few minutes despite having used Heriot-Watt's own Bike to Work scheme rather than CycleScheme's.

I didn't think anyone would actually do the survey. It has a strong whiff of marketing about it.

You linked to a survey and invited people to make pedantic comments and didn't expect anyone to take the bait?

I gave up before the end. My pedantic comment would be about the question 11: Which of the below would you most like to see improved in the next 10 years with regards to cycling to work (please tick all that apply)? (my emphasis)

    work-related question:

Has anyone saved screenshots of any of the rubbish surveys that we've been exposed to over the years?
