"The Big City Plan is the most ambitious and far-reaching citywide development project ever undertaken in the UK: to create a world class city centre by planning for the next 20 years of transformation, to be in the top 20 most liveable cities in the world and to ultimately progress the city’s continued regeneration, in the spirit of Birmingham, as a global city with a local heart."

Cycling around Birmingham International Station + Airport approach roads is good fun... No worse than any other car obsessed place in UK...

My daughter used to love watching Brum.... the car that could go (almost) everywhere!

Hmm, I'm not sure I'd agree with LB on this one. BHI is an awful place to get to on a bike, as I realised earlier this year. The roads in and around the NEC are fun, but there are few non-dual carriageway options.

The city centre though is quite like Sheffield and Glasgow in its tightly knit granite setts and marble seats and blue pavement lights and airy concourses, and not bad at all.
