I was heading out for a wee meander through midlothian this morning. Google maps told me i could get out to Straiton via Gilmerton Dykes Road.
When i got there, a No Through Road sign temporarily got me a bit irked. Decided to "risk it" only to find the road was quiet, reasonably surfaced, white cycles were painted on the road - FULL LANE! and indeed I could nip through onto Lasswade Road. So surprised I was at finding this easy route, I looked about me, only to look ahead again *just* in time to avoid cycling into a bollard! Was a bit sheepish even though no-one would have seen it!
Maybe cyclists are just supposed to know these roughts are through routes after all?!
