The Tories propose their own bill then whip against it when it is amended very slightly. Utterly barking.
I'm surprised the rest of Europe is putting up with this- their restraint is admirable.
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

@paddyirish
Since this started I've noticed that making sudden changes in delivery schedules for our bikes are becoming more common from EU suppliers.
I reckon they think 'the Brits' are nuts and don't know their A from E. Scotland is included of course :-)
Even with the (considerable) advantage of having no emotional attachment to the UK of GB&NI I'm now finding it hard to even think about this without breaching Rule 2.
The worst possible people pursuing the worst possible outcome for the worst possible motives with the worst possible degree of competence is not an easy watch.
Brexit motion on registration of EU citizens discussed in Edinburgh Council yesterday. The Tories got very angry at being made to feel different.

Claire Miller and I used to work in the same place; while I didn’t know her well she was universally regarded as a thoroughly diligent colleague and a hugely decent person. Exceptionally pleased to to see her continue this a councillor.
The unbearable in pursuit of the untenable?
What's the best point to cut to on that webcast, so I don't have to watch all 5 hours of it?
Item 9.8
Cllr McVey starts at 5:15:31. Cllr Day then also speaks.
Cllr Whyte responds at 5:19:50, followed by Cllr Doggart.
Cllrs Miller, Macinnes and Osler are one after the other from 5:25:40.
Councillors from various parties then speak, but I stopped listening after Cllr Cook's response to Cllr Macinnes.
As ever, pointless reading the UK press.
Speaker rules out Brexit vote on same motion
If only it wasn't so important, it would make an excellent soap/drama/satire/farce/tragi-comedy
I'm down in London next month and I think I'll make a point of having a chat with the Brexit protesters, see who they are. If protests are still allowed, obviously.
“
France’s EU minister names her cat ‘Brexit’ because ‘he meows loudly to be let out but won’t go through the door’
“
“
Paris, which is impatient for the EU to turn to other issues of reform rather than facing much more time bogged down in Brexit, has reiterated that it needs concrete solutions from London. France won’t back an extension unless it comes with a clear, new, credible plan which can gain majority parliament support.
“
If only Ed Miliband had got that sandwich into his mouth properly.
I must say that I agree that things would be much better if our strong, decisive leader was unhindered by this fractious, divisive and unhelpful parliament.
Dear Donald.
Formal confirmation that the prime minister of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is insane.
This is absolute carnage. Surely the death throes of the United Kingdom? Its credibility is completely shot.
“Surely the death throes of the United Kingdom?”
Perhaps, certainly seems like a Westminster deathwish.
Little chance of change without abolishing FPTP.
Are bookies posting odds on which comes first IndyScot or UnitedIreland??
The prime minister's letter to Mr Junker actually has the word 'Grimsby' in it.
Let us dwell on that fact a moment as we contemplate the abyss.
Tusk says EU will only grant short extension if UK approves May's deal
May apparently going to address the Nation tonight...
That's game over whatever happens.
If the UK gives in under EU pressure the humiliation is total.
If they hold out and exit the EU chaotically the UK comes apart.
If they revoke Article 50 they get a bit of time but I could organise an English fascist party in my sleep in those circumstances.
I'm still trying to work out who is benefiting from this.
“I'm still trying to work out who is benefiting from this.”
Companies related to Ree Smog?
Facebook?
Countries were some people will/have return(ed) to?
Storage renters?
Eurotunnel & some companies with ships?
NI and other places given extra money (may not outweigh ending of EU money).
The list of those not benefiting is probably longer.
The EU have been on message on this, May's deal or nothing.
They are gambling on May's deal.
“They are gambling on May's deal.“
You mean ‘gambling on May's deal passing’?
OR, (if it doesn’t), on MPs getting their act together and (somehow) enforcing the ‘no no-deal Brexit’ they voted for.
SpeakerB may help...
It will pass now, Labour have lost, they will vote for it. The ERG aee irrelevant now.
“It will pass now”
Logically you are probably right.
But ‘logic’ hasn’t really come into it lately.
I ‘spose Speaker will accept old motion with added extension, but wouldn’t actually put money on it!
There's still the glimmer of a longer delay - it's implicit in May's letter and not specifically referenced to in Tusk's speech. But admittedly that's a long shot.
All down to what Labour does now. God help us.
Ask any country “what are you doing in nine days’ time?” and it would go something like this:Sweden? “Same old, same old.”
Germany? “Business as usual.”
Belgium? “Same, but with waffles.”
Australia? “Fighting spiders, as per.”
Finland? “Same as always.”
Japan? “Normal country stuff.”
UK? “Not a [Rule 2] clue.”
Could she go for a referendum on the May deal to get opposition party support? Tory party might collapse though
