    I suspect after playing, and for the moment beating BoJo at his own game the opposition are quite happy BoJo's hands are tied through prorogation. The Tories would actually quite like parliament to be un-suspended to try and get round the current no deal block, but can't say that publicly...

    Scottish judges rule PM's suspension of parliament is unlawful

    Surely everyone involved will just die of shame, no?

    That requires them being capable of feeling shame.

    Imagine closing a parliament illegally and getting caught. I know there's the appeal to come, but even so.

    Government not handing over the communication records asked for in second part of humble address as it would be unfair...
    At least parliament is not prorogued now!

    Balfour & Manson have just sent a letter to tell BJ & Co.
    https://twitter.com/joannaccherry/status/1171842503261216768?s=19

    "Parliament is either prorogued or it is not. The Court of Session has made an order that it is not. There is no other position in either fact or law.
    Please therefore (a) acknowledge publicly and immediately that parliament is not prorogued and (b) resume parliament etc"

    By way of winding up a few of the parties sounding off, I heartily recommend reading up on Random Scottish History, where Jenny (@FlikeNoir on twitter) has been steadily transcribing parliamentary acts, newspaper articles, etc over the period 1700-1900.

    Detail worthy of note is that Scotland has never ceased to be an independent country 1707 was a Union of Parliaments, for which Scotland was paid c.£400,000 to take on their share of payments for the English National Debt. This was not well received as only 25% was paid in 'real money', and the rest in promisory notes from banks in London, 400 miles away.

    She's also uncovered detail on the bribes paid to Scottish MP's to vote for the closure of the separate Scottish Parliament in 1707, and the various accounting for the greater flow of revenues South, against money retained in or paid back to Scotland. Worth reminding folk the UK = BU4 in a similar way to EU28

    Downing Street has refused to commit to tabling its Brexit plans for replacing the Irish backstop within two weeks, branding it an “artificial deadline” and agreeing only to share informal “non-papers” on its preferred solutions.

    The supreme court will give its decision on whether or not the prime minister acted illegally in advising the monarch to close parliament at 10h30.

    It will give a judgement under Scots law as well as English law.

    Crazy days, eh?

    I wonder how many MPs are currently stuck overseas having booked last minute with Thomas Cook?

    And yet it has no effect. Parliament has to choose between revocation of Article 50 or accepting the withdrawal agreement.

    If they can't choose then the UK of GB&NI falls off the cliff.

    From comments in National

    What is being proposed (I think) is a "Differentiated Settlement," with N.Ireland being treated differently to the rest of the UK, and most significantly to us, differently to Scotland.
    Remember, N.Ireland voted 55.8% REMAIN. Scotland voted 62% REMAIN.

    Irish Times on today's latest from Scottish Courts. First item on Ch4 News tonight too - querying how BJ will comply without extension. Will Gibralter status re-appear soon to add an extra level of complexity?!

    But no, it is real: https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/lorry-drivers-stuck-in-brexit-traffic-jams-may-cause-rise-in-dogging-m3x927fhf

    Media are loving the ad spend though. It's a massive relentless campaign.
    (But not in the National he, he he. No Brexit dividend for these people!)
    Made mistake of listening to ForthOne and that's got 'Get ready for Brexit' on at every break.
    Also had news bulletin that sounded almost happy that blundering BJ had not lost a court case today.

    CCE has a collective IQ of about a million. Couple of questions;

    * What is the desired outcome of Her Majesty's Government?
    * What is the desired outcome of Her Majesty's Loyal Opposition?
    * What is the desired outcome of the Scottish Government?
    * What is the desired outcome of the Liberal Democrats?
    * What is going to happen at 23h00 on the 31st of October?
    * Are these unreasonable questions?

    Call my a cynic but here are my gueses:

    What is the desired outcome of Her Majesty's Government?
    Personal enrichment and less justice for those who haven't been personally enriched.

    What is the desired outcome of Her Majesty's Loyal Opposition?
    I'm not sure that they aren't keen on departing the EU but with some sort of custom's union in place.

    What is the desired outcome of the Scottish Government?
    As with all things the Scottish Government, or least the majority party in it desires independence from rUK above all else.

    What is the desired outcome of the Liberal Democrats?
    Jailing AlJo? Avoiding a no-deal brexit.

    What is going to happen at 23h00 on the 31st of October?
    The same as happened in March, or alternatively Farage releases a soundbite in which he denies every having said that Brexit is a good idea.

    Are these unreasonable questions?
    Are these unreasonable answers?

    “What is going to happen at 23h00 on the 31st of October?”

    MrJ proclaims ‘we’re out’.

    Another lie.

    @acsimpson

    I haven't a clue what the answer is to any of these questions but...

    1) If the Lib Dems are looking to avoid chaotic exit why are they being awkward about a government of national unity?

    2) If Scot Gov is seeking independence why are they attempting to prevent the Brexit that justifies it? Why did the leader of the major party fail to attend the biggest ever independence march on Saturday?

    None of them are being straight with us.
