    @Wilmington's Cow

That's exactly it. Mr Corbyn isn't good at playing the bad game.

I think that a principled individual can also show themselves to be a good leader.

But Corbyn, where has he been?

    Hiding...?

Suggestions on Twitter that Corbyn's Leave vote will have cancelled Johnson's Remain vote.

Kezia Dugdale is publicly tweeting for Jeremy Corbyn to clarify his position on whether he voted Leave or Remain.

Someone ought to take all the computers and mobile devices off of Labour MPs and MSPs until they've sorted this all out. None of it is helping.

When your house is on fire, you don't fan the flames. Unless you're the Labour party in which case you apparently pour on petrol and then go back in the house.

"Kezia Dugdale is publicly tweeting for Jeremy Corbyn to clarify his position on whether he voted Leave or Remain."

She should check the internet or it'll look like she's accusing him of lying in his intent-to-vote tweet:

The BBC's preference seemed to be: Farage, Johnson, Cameron, Gove, anyone else. Perhaps if he'd had an appealing counter-narrative but then I got used to despairing of hearing a left-wing counter-argument succinctly and winningly put back in Kinnock's time.

    Never underestimate Ms Dugdale's ability to overlook a detail. Her own Twitter profile claims that she's a columnist for the Moot County, New Jersey Daily Record;

Suspect I'm the only person who's ever clicked on that link...

I think it stems from a report from a Labour MP (who else) claiming that in person that Jezza refused to say he had voted Remain (tweet or otherwise). So I think your comment that "it'll look like she's accusing him of lying" is exactly what some people are getting at.

I did see an amusing reply from someone along the lines of "while everyone in the PLP is knifing eachother in the back, Kezia gets stuck in with a foam sword"

@IwratS - the power of CCE, as the link now appears to be our own Daily Record, rather than the NJ one.

    Scottish Labour doing something interesting and useful;

    https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2016/jun/27/scottish-labour-seeks-possibility-federal-uk-brexit-aftermath

Doomed to failure as the EU is a union of nation states - even I know that. But it's a good start.

Jeremy Corbyn re elected seems a good day for democracy with new labour so keen to undermine the process charging people to vote and what not

I heard that the other guy… Owen someone, polled higher than Mr Corbyn in Scotland.

That could be because the left wing of Labour here has left and gone elsewhere I suppose although, outwith Ms Dugdale, Labour here are against Trident. 'Tis a puzzlement.

It's also possible some people forgot to vote.

Owen smith's people all seemed nice when they phoned me, even when I said I had voted JC. Possible the old left in labour are in SNP now for sure but would that not mean the SNP would be left wing? I mean left wing like JC against grammars, removing charitable status from independent school companies, making Scottish schools secular etc.?

Just needs to be more left than Labour.

When this all started in July I was confused about the moderates rebelling. It turned out that's what Labour's right wing is called now. I find Mr Corbyn a wee bit moderate.

Charitable status might be a reserved matter for HMRC.

There is no need to be against Grammar schools here as nobody has proposed them.

RC schools are unlikely to be changed by anyone just now. Many parents want them and there is a historical reason why they exist. You might not start off from the current position but it's where we are.

And Ms Dugdale seems to think the solution to Labour's problems in Scotland, outwith being even more autonomous than the last time she was autonomous, is to move further right.

Hard to say where they are.

Ruth and Fluffy seem to have done a 180 and say Brexit is an opportunity.

    http://www.heraldscotland.com/news/14737640.Tory_leader_Ruth_Davidson_highlights_Brexit__opportunities_/

And Kezia might, or might not have changed her mind on Mr Corbyn…

“I don’t think Jeremy can unite our party and lead us into government. He cannot appeal to a broad enough section of voters to win an election.” (22 August 2016)

“I believe that Jeremy can unite the Labour Party [and] win a general election.” (24 September 2016)

Apparently she did an interview on the BBC this morning but I really don't want to watch it. It sounds like the one Ms Lamont did on tax policy which was uncomfortable to say the least.

In other news Mrs May has installed a high power reality distortion field which allows her to blame the SNP for Brexit. Full article published next week.

    https://www.holyrood.com/articles/news/exclusive-snp-must-take-share-responsibility-brexit-vote-says-theresa-may

In any event should Kezia move Labour further right she's only going to be scrapping for voters who moved to the Tories in the last election. The ultimate outcome of an election would be much the same.

I'm now going out to trim the lino in the new bike shed. It's 5x3 m and will replace the garage which is going to be a music room. I'll take a blue tooth speaker and some Bryan Ferry I think.

"Mrs May has installed a high power reality distortion field which allows her to blame the SNP for Brexit."

    Her argument goes:

The SNP is the establishment in Scotland
The UK voted against the establishment when choosing Brexit
The SNP is to blame for Brexit.

    Breathtaking chutzpah.

Bike shed lino cut but I did to the sound of Madness' Wonderful album as there was no Bryan Ferry on the iPod and the wifi doesn't reach the shed. Yet.

I'll keep some of the off cuts to put under the 5 bike wheel bender which is in the post.

I think Mrs May's argument fails on the 62% remain vote we got in Scotland but I might have missed something.

Lino is just lying flat, I was quite surprised. They seem to have changed the recipe since we were kids and it curled up for a couple of years. I'm slightly worried about having shown the management that I can use a Stanley knife as she will now want me to do the lino in the Willibald von Gluck music room once we get the garage converted. The bike shed, also known as Heidi's alpine chalet, has the cheapest lino I could find. The Willibald von Gluck conservatory (or garage as it is just now) will be getting the expensive stuff and one slip of a Stanley knife could be disastrous.

    Stanley knifes have improved too.

Seems to be more devolution of school resources, possibly to stop councils diverting them and blaming someone else. Direct management of resources has been going on for a while.

    https://www.holyrood.com/articles/news/john-swinney-devolve-education-decisions-school-level

    And…

"He ruled out a move to privately-run academies, selection or grammar schools – as Theresa May recently announced for England."

At folds i will send you the link to the consultation if you want (will take you an hour). It has some of the most truly breathtakingly leading questions of any consultation I have ever responded to.

I said I did not believe in equity. (That will be just me then, unless you get annoyed too). I am against levelling playing field. I want it tilted the other way, like when Edinburgh uni assumed candidates with good highers from comp schools were cleverer than those from fee paying schools (they stopped doing that which is a shame)

John swinney clever, he is just extracting the 50 per cent of council budgets that are spent on education to keep central. . I am big fan of attainment challenge in England and the copy cat one in Scotland but it is remarkable how head teachers are spending that money but not as remarkable as the graph with no info on the X axis or y axis but with two converging lines which shows the gap closing.

Another day another car crash of an
interview for Kezia Dugdale. After repeating her view that Jeremy Corbyn couldn’t win a general election straight after his re-election, Dugdale told BBC’s Sunday Politics that Corbyn could re-unite the party “if he really wants to,” and that unity matters more than negative opinions uttered previously, because “only a united Labour Party can defeat the Conservatives at the next elections”.

Labour in Scotland has failed to attract the same increase in membership as the rest of the country because young, left-wing voters have abandoned it for the SNP, shadow chancellor John McDonnell has said.

It would appear that Scotland is without a functioning Socialist party. Let's hope it can rescue/find/found one soon.
