From the playground of the new School being built where Burdiehouse primary used to be I could see a fresh bike path. Parallel to the north side of the burn.

I am hoping it links up to the Roslin path or the ERI path.

Any local knowledge? Note not the school on the south side of the burn,

The cycle path was there already but has been widened, resurfaced and straightened out a bit, I think?

Connects to RIE if you can follow the signs without getting lost, and cross Lasswade Road without being run over.

Getting to the Roslin path currently involves going up the steep 40mph bit of Lasswade Road, past The Murrays. A better connection from Clippens Drive to Straiton Pond (meeting the Roslin Path immediately north of the bypass) will be built as part of the housing development currently being built to the north of Lang Loan.

Unfortunately, when a local resident pointed out that an extra bridge over the Burdiehouse burn would allow a direct connection from Clippens Drive to the existing Burdiehouse Burn path, nobody was interested in paying for it...so everyone will have to go round three sides of a square, via Burdiehouse Road.

EDIT: Where's the school on the south side of the burn?

@Frenchy yes RIE going east. Going west? Anywhere?

Burdiehouse crescent is where the school is, old Burdiehouse Primary now St Crispims Specail School.

    Going west? Anywhere?

    Burdiehouse Road...and...er...Straiton junction?

The Pentlands to Porty route may end up linking this up westwards. If it ever happens.

I was early for the site visit so decided to get a coffee. I asked two builders carrying costa coffee cups where they got their coffees. They said Costa (at Straiton when I pressed them for info).

I opted for The Captain’s Cafe which had good coffee but poor Covid Adherence.

    My bold

    Community volunteering is fun
    - meet new people - make a difference in your local park!

Once a month - every 2nd Saturday of the month - meet at the 'FBBVP Bothy' at 10am to 12 noon - All welcome

    Next activity morning -
    Landscaping work around the Bothy

This Sat 11th Feb - 10 am to 12 noon - Landscaping around the Bothy , and litterpick - the new planters to plant a hedge have arrived! Help us create a green boundary between the bus stop and the Bothy - First we need to do some preparation work before the hedge and other plants can be planted in March - meet at the FBBVP Bothy at 26b Gilmerton Dykes Street

    Book the FBBVP Bothy !
Did you know that local community groups can now book
the re-furbished FBBVP Bothy for activities
    - good place to gather , with a small kitchen and a toilet and facility to make hot water for a cup of tea or coffee - great for a meet up before or after a group activity in the Park.
The Bothy is already well used by Children 1st and Venture Scotland used if for the first time last month before doing some volunteer litter picking in the park
