Bitte.... nicht so schnell!
Cars are slowing down here but just due to there being too many.
Injuries also down in Edinburgh and Welsh data?
Cars slowed down in Edinburgh when 20mph was introduced. Now they're speeding up again...
...thanks to absolutely zero enforcement and absolutely nothing a citizen can do about rogue speeders, not even social ostracisation.
Once they've sped past your house, there is no way to catch them. Literally nothing you can do.
If only there was a technical way to geofence and speed-limit cars. In the meantime, we should just ban cars - that would focus minds a bit...
Also not helped that Police Scotland claim that even with video evidence, they can't charge drivers with speeding. In my case I estimated they were going at 50-55 MPH in Holyrood Park, a 20 MPH limit. The officer said "They're clearly speeding, but we can't tell by how much so there's nothing we can do. We can only charge them if they're caught on a speed camera".
A good starting place would be turning all the 'speed advisory' signs i.e. the ones with the digital speed readouts into speed cameras. Speeding is pretty much endemic now due to a lack of enforcement.
meanwhile in the Borders all of the speed cameras have been turned off, as apparently driver behaviour has changed and they are no longer needed. Seems very odd/unlikely.
Driver behaviour has changed in as much that they all know where the cameras are :)
