'innovative ways to fund transport' as opposed to tax - the usual route? Passengers paying instead of Gov't subsidy?

Don't spend billions on silly schemes of little use which only replace already successfull public transport (tram/busses)?

    Might just go to that.

    "Might just go to that."

"The event is free but ticketed, with a limited number of seats available."

If you go you might mention -

"vision is to increase the modal share of cycling by 50 % over 10 years"

There are really only two sources of funding for transport projects:

    Users
    Taxpayer

There are really only two ways to pay:

    Now
    Later

As soon as you hear the words "leverage", "bonds", "lottery funding" or "developer contributions" you are getting into huckster territory.

I actually hope I am wrong here and there is some other way of paying for transport projects which doesn't involve my (or anyone else's) cash, but I doubt it. Happy to be proved wrong though.

If anyone is staying in town between work and this event I'll be free for a coffee at PY on the 8th Nov.

Expect to be outnumbered by heavy rail fans.

    "secret heavy rail fan"

You'll be in your element then!

Some are quite bicycle friendly, but also stuck in the headlights of a fast approaching (or not) HS2.
