CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

So which streets shall we nominate for the Contraflow Cycle Track treatment?
"So which streets shall we nominate for the Contraflow Cycle Track treatment?"
Edinburgh doesn't do one way quite the way American cities do.
In terms of roads wide enough to do something similar - 'obvious' one is Queen Street.
Morrison St... waste of bloody time hoofing it round the long way when I want to get from Grove St to Canning St...
Well at least half of Grove Street should have a contraflow.
The other half should have one too, but that would mean removing half the parked cars.
Ah...
I must admit that I used to live in Grove St and, to avoid adding 10 minutes to every journey, simply rode the wrong way. I lived on the west side of the WAR bridge so it was quite wide enough (no drivers ever blinked an eyelid anyway).
All they'd need to do from that point is remove the one way signs and replace with a 'no entry' one at the bottom, no lane required.
"no lane required"
I can't remember where things are with legislation/guideance. But CEC is generally 'cautious' so they'd want to do it 'properly'. Obviously Grove Street wasn't always one way, and that section has been two way for all traffic when there was bridge work going on.
CEC actually has a policy of creating contraflow cycle lanes in such places 'where practicable' - but they have been known to not do it 'for safety reasons' (probably so that drivers in Fountainbridge aren't confused by having to deal with cyclists coming out of Grove Street.
However Dave isn't the only person to do it. Quite a few people with bikes live in Upper Grove Place.
Here's one from London.
Interesting... (Not sure what's supposed to happen at the end)
