@medium Dave, that guy was a legend. He gave Corson of Stockbridge a run for his money, though ultimately Corson prevailed as he has always done

@algo & bill: Flour mills working 'round the clock' to meet demand

According to that article the bottleneck in getting flour on to supermarket shelves is caused by the packing lines for small bags being at capacity.

@ejstubbs yes, that's correct. That's why we are getting a sack. I am hoping that they will start selling flour sacks with colourful patterns again.

@Murun - yes the actual game Corson is played over a decade, so he has the form. Though think he has shut up shop now. How you can tell from normal non-opening hours is the fact that after the two shelves were cleaned for first time in decade he has tired himself out and has now put sign up saying he is closed rather than just being closed.

You can tell how bad it is for High Street Retailing if Corson's has to close.

@stiltskin, some say Corson being closed is its normal state of being but I say you cant keep a good man down and he is having to be actually closed

I will lose all faith if Corson's doesn't survive this.
plus, he is one of the few places i can reliably find wooden clothespins.

Dunelm Mill sell wooden clothes pegs (with the metal spiral) 20 for a pound.

Corson he will have the actual all wooden pegs that you could insert into each other and thus make yourself a phaser gun.

has now put sign up saying he is closed rather than just being closed.

Reminds me of Bain's Bikes (and indeed, said emporium of proprietors past), where it was practically impossible to know if the shop was open or closed. Even when you made it inside, he'd sometimes lock the door behind you because, I don't know, it might just invite other customers.

Anyone know if Bain and Corson have ever been seen in the same place at the same time? If the rules of the game are to be applied correctly, I have probably lost. I have now been waiting 29 years for The Captain to get in stock the Suntour thumbshifters I requested.

    phaser gun

    How about an F14/F18 hybrid?

    Ah, roger that

You may be able to find wooden clothespins in Corson’s @the canuck, but have actually been able to buy them?

@arellcat I fear that jet may ping apart at any moment?

@stiltskin there is strong implication that @the Canuck has possibly employed the North American Strategy and purchased clothes pegs (pins in those jurisdictions)from Corson. Must be recorded somehow.

Ah, the North American Strategy. I believe that was removed from the rulebook after 1945, but became necessary to include again in the 43rd edition, in an expanded capacity, in response to the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Have they published the 2020 rulebook yet? I'm keen to see if it has the chapter on Corson Defense. I heard a rumour that Appendix 92 part C has a list of cheat codes that can be spoken to adjust the odds fractionally in one's favour.

@arellcat not seen the full book but apparently if you ask for clothes pins instead of clothes pegs Corson is automatically disarmed and sells you them.

Would have thought the times are ripe for Corson and his paraffin

@murun, hopefully he has drained his vast underground reservoir of paraffin before shutting up shop?

Full kit roadie came straight at me at some speed beside Dunsapie Loch as I strolled on the carriageway. Trying to get me to clear out of his way but I wouldn't and he chickened out.

Why do that if you're not willing to see it through?

Is anyone else jumping red lights because, hey, what is the point of the motor-centric nonsense delays?

Managed to jump the ones at the bottom of Lothian Rd today, and that was a right turn into Princes St

I've noticed that there's now a redundant few seconds where both directions of many TL systems are red, presumably to account for any RJL'ing cars in normal times. But I wouldn't given the higher number of people out walking who could see it and propagate bad PR "cyclist free for all during lockdown" or some other similar EEN story..

It's nice to always be at the head of the queue without filtering and to be able to set off unharried. The other day I almost forgot about the early cyclist light at Bonnington Road/Pilrig St as I wasn't feeling pressured into accelerating as rapidly as possible to be past the first parked car before the motor vehicles behind me.

    @bax

It is possibly the deepest flaw in the moral abyss masquerading as my personality that I have no interest in telling anyone else what to do. In short I am not a Modern Man at all.

I mean I even backed down from dragging a road sign off the pavement yesterday in case madame was embarrassed. The failure to lead or to seize days deepens and widens.

I was very tempted, while stationary in the middle of an apparently empty Princes Street on Sunday, but I didn't, for similar reasons to

I shamefully admit that yes, I do jump some in the morning. I give them a few seconds to change first. Some lights in Livingston around the shopping centre don't see the cyclists at all and with so little traffic I could be waiting there forever. That's one-two lights I might go through. Most lights I observe.

I've noticed that there's now a redundant few seconds where both directions of many TL systems are red, presumably to account for any RJL'ing cars in normal times.

Definitely the lights with fixed timing and sequence seem to be off with the current low traffic.
