    Hullo, lovely CCE types. The criterium races over at Ingliston are a little short on marshals, so friend-of-POP Oisín Murphy-Lawless has asked me to pass on this plea for helpers:

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Basically, I need four bodies total. The
    first two will be doing marshalling on our main circuit from about
    5.50. One to help traffic as it's coming on site, the other to make
    sure traffic doesn't come onto the race course by accident. This is for
    the first two races of the evening on the main circuit. Then for the
    third race, one of the marshalls repositions to the parking area in
    front of the Royal Highland HQ.
    In terms of the marshalling, it's fairly light work - the entrance isn't
    too busy, and traffic is light to non-existent by the main race. It is
    key to keep an eye on the bunch as they go round though. If someone has
    a crash, the marshall needs to radio for first aid and give the numbers
    of who has gone down. They need to have a reasonable idea of what
    happened (it's hard to see in the bunch, but any extra pair of eyes is
    appreciated).
    The second two volunteers will be start out assisting Andy in Race HQ,
    and then act in a similar capacity for the Women's Race on the smaller
    circuit. One will be positioned at a pedestrian crossing near the race
    hq, just to make sure people don't cross as the bunch comes round. The
    second is there to make sure traffic doesn't come onto the circuit from
    the parking area.
    If we can get four, brilliant. If not, we can make do with who we
    have. Ideally people would need to be out for 5.30, though sooner is
    better. I'll need names and phone numbers, and we'll be able to pay a
    (very) small amount for expenses.
    Folk'll need to bring along suitable clothing. The wind can be a
    bastard out at ingliston and will freeze you quickly enough.
    Thanks for any help you can provide at this late hour.
    go to:
    Timetable for races that volunteers will be marshalling as follows:
    Youth A/B on Main Circuit 17.50
    Adult Category 4 race on Main Circuit at 18.45
    Women's Race 18.50 on Alternate Circuit 18.50
    Main Race 19.40 on Main Circuit
    Racing Finishes 8.50 or so.
    Cheers,
    Oisín
    Interesting, not a term I'd come across, I've used a b*****d file though :-)
    (proper name for it, not a description!)
    I guess the A8 path is the best route there?
    A8 "path*" or A8 itself. Come off at airport junction, turn left at last exit before airport itself. Turn left again at end of that road and cycle through the Highland Showground entrance.
    * not a path. Not in my interpretation of the word anyway.
    "best"
    Depends...
    Almost certainly simplest.
    I might go canal - Edinburgh Park - Gogar Station Road then A8 path.
    However I suspect that that road is busy at that time compared with the Sunday I went previously.
    Destination here -
